Research administration is a complex profession. The Research Administrator plays a crucial role in the lifecycle of research funding, primarily focusing on activities leading up to the award of a grant or contract. This role will engage in policy interpretation and pre-award support of extramural awards and agreements. The Research Administrator works directly with the post-award accountants, working in collaboration to manage contracts, research funding FTE, and award modifications. This position is essential to our department's research enterprise, ensuring proposals are accurate, compliant, and competitive. The Research Administrator has diverse responsibilities. These include assisting researchers with proposal development, reviewing proposals for accuracy and compliance, and providing guidance on budgets. The Research Administrator engages in submitting proposals through electronic systems, tracking submissions, and maintaining records. The successful candidate will be required to stay current on regulations and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements. Additionally, they will serve as a liaison between researchers and funding agencies, communicate proposal status, and coordinate with post-award teams. This role will provide training on pre-award procedures and systems and contribute to improving pre-award processes. The incumbent will directly support our exciting research in a culture of collaboration and belonging.</p> <ul> <li> <p>This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated outstanding organizational skills. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Successful candidates will have knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and research terminology.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated superior customer service orientation and ability to work well under deadline pressures without sacrificing accuracy.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to handle a complex portfolio of work in an intensive multi-tasking environment.
