<p>Overview: West Boylston Public Schools is seeking a qualified nurse to be responsible for establishing and managing a comprehensive school health program consistent with the Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing and school health, and school district policy.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for professional, medical treatment of students </li><li>Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations </li><li>Responsible for disease prevention </li><li>Assists in promoting programs on health-education and immunization </li><li>Maintains clinical records </li><li>Coordinates vision, hearing, lice, and orthopedic screening and health assessments </li><li>Provides emergency aid to students and school staff </li><li>Assists teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education </li><li>Take part in the decision-making for sick child dismissal and re-admittance to school </li><li>Monitor attendance/absence patterns and follow-up on student injuries and illness </li><li>Administers and/or supervises the administration of prescription medication to students; provides medically prescribed intervention. </li><li>Develops care plans (in cooperation with family physician) for students in concussion protocol and other medical care planning </li><li>Coordinates medications and nursing care for school field trips with building administration </li><li>Monitors student physical exam status for athletic program according to MIAA regulations </li><li>Provides direct nursing care to meet the needs of the students, including administering first aid care for injuries, emergency medical care and management of acute and chronic illnesses. </li><li>Flexibility to perform other duties assigned by Superintendent of Schools or designee </li></ul>
