<p>Title: Computer Technician</p> <p>Employee Classification: Technical & Paraprofessional</p> <p>Institution: Roane State Community College</p> <p>Department: IT</p> <p>Campus Location: Roane State Community College</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Providing network and technical support to faculty, staff, and students.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Examples of Duties - not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties assigned to this position</p> <p>Installs, maintains, and repairs microcomputers, multimedia and telephone equipment;</p> <p>Troubleshoots and repairs computer hardware and software problems;</p> <p>Installs and maintains network wiring and equipment;</p> <p>Installs, configures, and troubleshoots locally- and network-attached printers;</p> <p>Assists in maintaining the departmental inventory of computer equipment;</p> <p>Provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students;</p> <p>Assists in answering and resolving Help Desk calls;</p> <p>Assists other technical staff in resolving work orders;</p> <p>Logs calls into the Help Desk call and work order system;</p> <p>Resolves and closes Help Desk calls and documents with meaningful resolutions;</p> <p>Provides informal point-of-use training on microcomputer and telephone hardware and software use and access to administrative systems to faculty, staff, and students;</p> <p>Assists microcomputer users with basic software applications and computer operations.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum of a high school diploma or GED with specialized computer training and a</p> <p>minimum of two years of related experience.</p> <p>Demonstrated experience in working with Microsoft Windows operating systems</p> <p>and/or Apple Macintosh operating systems.</p> <p>Understanding of networking and VOIP telephone systems.</p> <p>Ability to troubleshoot network, software, multimedia, and hardware problems.</p> <p>Ability to install, maintain, and repair a variety of microcomputers, multimedia</p> <p>equipment, printers, and peripherals.</p> <p>Ability to transfer or apply technology concepts across a variety of applications and</p> <p>hardware platforms.</p> <p>Ability to communicate technical information to people with various levels of</p> <p>computer knowledge and interact well with people of all ages and diverse</p> <p>backgrounds.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Associate's degree.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <p>The ability to lift or move, with or without assistance, computer and computer-related</p> <p>equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.</p> <p>Physical Demands / Working Conditions</p> <p>The ability to lift or move, with or without assistance, computer and computer-related</p> <p>equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.</p>
