<p>About the Role:</p> <p>As Kalmbach Feeds and Kalmbach Nutritional Services (KNS) continue to grow, we are looking for passionate, hard-working, diplomatic, and detail-oriented team members who live our values to join our growing team. The Poultry Research Manager will help improve our animal production and the nutrition industry by providing data-driven decisions and quality research. The team member in this role will coordinate and execute research trials related to poultry nutrition and production techniques for KNS at the Kalmbach Poultry Research Center (KPRC). The selected individual will work directly with the KNS nutritionists, research barn team members, veterinarians, as well as ingredient suppliers and KNS customers.</p> <p>In this role, the ideal candidate will:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the poultry research efforts for Kalmbach Nutritional Services by coordinating the development, organization, and execution of research protocols and trials at KPRC. This includes experimental design, treatment structures, and development of the treatment randomization and treatment maps. </li><li>Manage the team members employed at KPRC. </li><li>Supervise and participate in the sample/data collection for research studies, including weighing live animals and feed, collecting blood, tissue, fecal or environmental samples. </li><li>Maintain data integrity by supervising and participating in data collection, entry, organization, management, and reporting. </li><li>Oversee the compilation of data and results, demonstrating statistical significance and measurable value that is relevant in the market. </li><li>Assemble and finalize research reports for internal and external research trials. </li><li>Be the main point of contact for coordinating contract research trials with sponsoring companies. Includes managing payment(s) for services rendered from sponsored companies, as well as providing data and reports at the appropriate time. </li><li>Be responsible for maintaining the annual budget for KPRC. </li><li>Oversee the shared research calendar for trial scheduling for all poultry research facilities. Includes managing the research planner and setting reminders for upcoming events and tasks in relation to research studies. </li><li>Participate in the KNS research committee to coordinate and collaborate on key research objectives and provide leadership as we expand our research capabilities. </li><li>Evaluate emerging technologies, new discoveries, and methodologies, and potential products in order to drive the prioritization of KNS innovation and research. </li><li>Be actively involved in literature reviews and development of research concepts. This includes attending industry events and research conferences for the further development of knowledge relating to KNS's poultry research efforts. </li><li>Project reporting / presenting for internal meetings, customer support and/or at scientific meetings. </li><li>Collaborate with laboratory services to develop and expand research specific capabilities and methodologies. </li><li>Full-time, salary role based at Kalmbach's corporate office in Upper Sandusky, OH. </li></ul> <p>Who You Are:</p> <ul> <li>Possess an M.S. or Ph.D. in Poultry Science, Animal Science or Animal Nutrition with a poultry nutrition focus. </li><li>Experience with conducting research and / or farm experience preferred. </li><li>Comfort in animal handling and husbandry. </li><li>Exhibit excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking ability. </li><li>Self-managed. Express a self-motivated attitude with the capability to set goals and objectives without constant supervision. </li><li>Acquire a strong analytical thinking approach to problem solving. </li><li>Statistical expertise is required. </li><li>Strong Microsoft Office skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
