<p>This position provides HIV pre and post-test counseling at the Downtown Detention Center located at 448 Second Avenue North, Nashville, TN 37201.  </p> <p>This position will work nights from 4:30pm to 1:00am.</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>Provides educational information regarding STD/HIV in order to increase community awareness, knowledge, and prevention.  </li><li>Provides direct services in a clinic, non-clinical, correctional, and non-traditional setting. </li><li>Conducts pre and post-test counseling services for patients taking an HIV test. </li><li>Counsel's patients on HIV and STD prevention measures, test results, program services, and procedural guidelines.  </li><li>Assist/provide oral swab screening via HIV OraQuick and assist/provide screening for gonorrhea and chlamydia. </li><li>Accurately and promptly documents services and observations in the client's record. </li><li>Collect laboratory specimens as needed; attends training and in-service classes as appropriate.  </li><li>Gain support and cooperation of public officials, community groups and agencies relative to health information concerns. </li><li>Assists in the development, promotion and implementation of a variety of health information, STD / HIV screenings, and education programs. </li><li>High school diploma. </li><li>Effective written and oral communications skills, group presentation skills and ability to operate audio-visual equipment. </li><li>Must be able to work a regular schedule consistently.  </li><li>Must be willing to submit and able to pass Davidson County Sheriff's Office background check as condition of employment. </li><li>Valid class "D" driver's license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.  </li><li>College degree. </li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish). </li><li>Familiarity with venipuncture. </li><li>History of working with diverse populations and working as member of interdisciplinary team. </li></ul>
