<p>POSITION SUMMARY: Perform the duties in Urgent Care required to provide support for providers in all aspects of patient care under the supervision of a physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner or licensed nurse which will meet the specific needs of the patient(s) presenting for care.</p> <p>POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant Program required.</p> <p>Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an emergency department, urgent care or other clinical setting.</p> <p>Skills and Abilities: which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to perform accurate blood drawing techniques. </li><li>Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere with HIPAA guidelines. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing schedules. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, time management and organization skills. </li><li>Ability to be a quick thinker and relate to all levels of staff and patients. </li><li>Team-oriented, energetic with strong customer service skills. </li><li>Cultural sensitivity required. </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. </li><li>Electronic medical record (EMR) experience and/or aptitude to master the EMR based on other technology experience required. </li></ul> <p>License(s)/Certification(s) Required:</p> <ul> <li>Certificate from Medical Assistant Training program. </li><li>CPR Certification. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Performs patient intake (i.e. blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, respirations, weights and measurements) on patients for medical examination. </li><li>Accurately document chief complaints, vital signs, weight, brief history, past history, family and social history, current mediations, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate. </li><li>Performs tests (i.e. blood glucose test, urine dipstick, pulse oximetry, vision tests, hearing screens and EKGs). </li><li>Notifies Provider and/or Clinic Nurse Coordinator of abnormal vital signs, blood glucose, hearing and vision abnormalities and/ or EKG results. </li><li>Complete tasks as assigned with licensed oversight, i.e. eye lavages, ear irrigation, ace wraps, suture or staple removal from superficial incisions or lacerations, etc. </li><li>Gives medications/immunizations as ordered per route (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sub-dermal). </li><li>Prepares, maintains exam rooms assuring that they are cleaned and stocked; performs sterilization of instruments. </li><li>Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies. </li><li>Responsible for general office procedures (i.e. venipunctures, dressing changes and nebulizer treatments). </li><li>Operate diagnostic equipment but cannot interpret tests. </li><li>Perform CPR and render first aid in an emergency. </li><li>Ensure that equipment is in proper working order and report any malfunction to the Director of Health Center Operations or Physician on duty. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li><li>Position may require travel to other area sites due to staffing needs </li></ul> <p>NOTE: SMOKING IS PROHIBITED IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>NOTE: ALL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THREE REFERENCES</p> <p>AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY SERVICES PROVIDED ON A NON-DISCRIMINATORY BASIS</p>
