<p>Join our thriving New Tampa Family YMCA community, a full family center with a $3.8M operating budget proudly serving over 2,500 household, where we're seeking an inspiring Wellness Director to lead our dynamic health and fitness initiatives. Our 55,000 sq. ft. facility includes an indoor gym, expansive wellness floor, dedicated personal training studio, two group exercise rooms, pickleball space, youth development areas, and a versatile multi-use space. The ideal leader will empower and elevate a seasoned wellness team featuring multiple association top-ten personal trainers and a robust group exercise program offering more than 60 classes each week.</p> <p>The Wellness Director I leads center wellness staff members in all member connection and retention initiatives related to the wellness center and wellness programming. The Director I will manage the day-to-day operations of health and wellness programs and wellness floor operations. This position provides direct leadership for personal training, group training, group exercise, healthy living programs, youth conditioning programs, and wellness floor staff; directly supervising and developing these staff teams to provide the highest quality service and exceptional member experience for all in small to mid-sized centers. This position is responsible for managing the wellness related financials, relationship building, supervision of staff, volunteer development and for being a YMCA advocate in the community. A strong focus is placed on driving a superior member experience, enhancing the membership connection/engagement, thereby leading to increasing member satisfaction and retention. This position employs a continuous improvement model to meet and/or exceed goals for satisfaction, budgeted revenue/expense goals.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Program Quality and Growth</p> <ul> <li> <p>Focus on implementing strategic plan initiatives, best practices and the elevation of wellness programming.</p> </li><li> <p>This includes: personal training, group training, group exercise, healthy living programs, youth conditioning programs, and direct leadership to wellness floor staff members.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and implement association survey and measurement strategies and action plans - Base Metrics and NPS.</p> </li><li> <p>Exceed personal training and small group training revenues compared to budget.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership to personal trainers to ensure they have all of the tools to exceed personal training budgets and metrics.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure members have access to/and promote orientations with wellness coaches/personal trainers.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote Inbody scans to new and existing members.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage group exercise class schedule to expectations utilizing budgets, association formula, NPS scores, etc.</p> </li></ul> <p>Membership Engagement and Retention</p> <ul> <li>Increase member connection and commitment to YMCA programs and services ensuring the member experience is consistent, integrated and aligned to YMCA goals including: </li><li>Reviews data about member satisfaction and interests to ensure connection to programs, services, and other members. </li><li>Collaborates regularly with center leadership, program operations, and other related teams to ensure the member experience is consistent, integrated and aligned with member needs. </li><li>Oversees new and returning member orientation to ensure effective onboarding to include wellness and program teams. </li><li>Implements relationship development strategies to increase membership engagement and retention. </li></ul> <p>Safety and Risk Management</p> <ul> <li>Adhere to all Federal, State, and local safety regulations, as well as all YMCA policies and procedures related to the safety, health, and welfare of members, participants, guests, and staff. </li><li>Ensure that all Tampa YMCA standards, leading practices, and policies are implemented and consistently followed, including those related to emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, and appropriate supervision. </li><li>Adhere to policies and procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising participants and boundaries with participants when applicable. </li><li>Ensure implementation of and follows all training requirements including risk management and child abuse prevention training in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures. </li><li>Maintain a safe and healthy environment at all times, including performing daily safety checks of program areas, equipment, and supplies. </li><li>Maintain proper records, including certifications, meetings and trainings. </li><li>Maintain an emphasis on safety in all areas of responsibility as they relate to members and staff. </li><li>Front desk personnel-ensure member or association guest are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. </li><li>Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for members, guests, and staff. </li><li>Promptly report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, as well as policy violations, following established association procedures. </li></ul> <p>Wellness Center Operations</p> <ul> <li>Provides leadership to wellness center operations and administration to ensure a best in class membership experience. </li><li></li><li>Supervises/coaches a team of wellness coaches that assist members in meeting their wellness goals. </li><li>Ensures adherence to all YMCA policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff. </li><li>Ensure the fitness equipment is kept in good working condition and is clean for members to use. </li></ul> <p>Active Older Adults Growth</p> <ul> <li>Drive senior membership revenue and Silver Sneakers revenue through gate swipes. </li><li>Coordinates the schedule for Silver Sneakers classes and activities, manages staff schedule for related programs, and maintains the inventory of related program equipment. </li><li>Provides a visible presence in the centers and actively interacts with senior members to ensure their needs are met. </li><li>Actively stewards relationships between seniors within the centers by introducing them to other members, and using member profiles and interactions to tailor suggestions for new activities </li></ul> <p>Team Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Direct responsibility to hire, develop, motivate and retain a team of wellness staff members committed to the YMCA's mission and Promise </li><li>Advocates for association-wide practices and is a source for innovative ways to grow the membership experience, base, and practices through wellness. </li><li>Provides collaborative leadership and guidance to peers through association-wide wellness meetings, direct one-on-one best practice sharing with peers both in and outside the center. </li><li>Develops and monitors staff member development plans and training opportunities that promote career growth within the Y. </li><li>Completes all job related, supervisory and other trainings as required. </li><li>Is a collaborative partner to the family center leadership staff serving as a Leader on Duty weekly and rotating weekends. </li></ul> <p>Education/ Experience Required:</p> <ul> <li>BA/BS in exercise science or related field; or equivalent experience preferred. </li><li>Minimum of two years of experience in wellness programming, with at least one year of supervisory experience preferred. </li><li>Must understand how to build relationships and have strong interpersonal skills. </li><li>Have the ability to lead a strong staff team that is focused on creating a welcoming environment and providing a superior member experience for all members, at all times. </li><li>Must have a proven track record and a passion for exercise, nutrition, healthy living and helping others live a healthier lifestyle. Additional skills in developing small groups, personal training, and group exercise are needed. </li><li>Strong social media acumen preferred </li><li>Highly motivated with the consistent ability to meet/exceed goals. </li><li>Self-driven with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership for results. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. </li><li>Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures. </li></ul> <p>Certifications/Trainings Required:</p> <ul> <li>Must obtain and maintain current certification in a Tampa YMCA approved program in personal training, group fitness instructor, and Healthy Lifestyle Principles. </li><li>Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen Administration. </li><li>Maintain position-specific required certifications as stated in the training matrix. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job includes, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan, lead, and participate in classes and activities. </li><li>Ability to verbally and physically communicate program content </li><li>Ability to hear participant discussion and questions. </li><li>Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. </li><li>Ability to lift equipment and perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, lifting, and reaching. </li><li>Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. </li><li>Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. </li><li>Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds. </li><li>Ability to stand for an extended period of time. </li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. </li><li>Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold. </li><li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. </li><li>This position requires reliable transportation and willing to travel, if needed. </li><li>Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and support class coverage </li><li>Must be able to perform all duties and functions of those that are supervised </li></ul>
