From tracking key legislation to leading outreach events and collaborating with community partners, you'll play a vital role in shaping a more inclusive future for Louisiana communities.</p> <p>Five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR</p> <p>Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR</p> <p>A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services; OR</p> <p>An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus one year of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating health or social service programs; or in public health, public relations, social services, health services, health regulation, or administrative services.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:</p> <p>Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates grassroots advocacy network and related initiatives:  </li></ul> <p>Provides one-to-one support and technical assistance to regional LaCAN (the statewide grassroots network working with policymakers to build a better Louisiana) leaders throughout the state.  Identifies needs for resources and training for LaCAN leaders.  Works with the Program Manager to secure necessary resources or training to LaCAN leaders. Assists Program Manager with tracking proposed legislation important to persons with disabilities and keeps Council members, staff and the grassroots network (LaCAN) informed of legislative committee meetings, times for public testimony, and legislative actions.  Provides support to the regional Families Helping Families Centers and assists in monitoring the Centers.   </p> <ul> <li>Coordinates public policy advocacy activities with the Council's planning and public information activities:   </li></ul> <p>Plans, organizes and evaluates advocacy and public awareness events related to increasing the self-determination, independence, integration, productivity and inclusion of persons with developmental disabilities. Plans, researches, designs, writes and edits materials concerning developmental disabilities, the Council and Council initiatives.  Materials produced may include flyers, brochures, booklets, displays, advertisements, public service announcements and press releases. Coordinates advocacy activities with the Council's Program Manager to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of all Plan activities. Prepares summary updates and reports on advocacy activities as requested. Assists in monitoring contracts - may include site visits, technical assistance, developing and measuring outcomes and other related activities.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as lead staff person for one or more of the Council's initiatives:  </li></ul> <p>Monitors and provides technical assistance on one or more of the Council's initiatives.
