Allen Park Schools</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>05/22/2025</p> <p>District:</p> <p>  Melvindale Northern Allen Park Public Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Role and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of CASEL Framework and ability to help staff with SEL strategies in the classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Counsel individual students and student groups, regarding issues including mental health, poverty, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, or childcare.</p> </li><li> <p>Interview students individually or in families, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems, to determine what services are required to meet their needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a liaison between school and students, homes, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors and other contacts to help children who face problems such as disabilities, trauma, abuse or poverty.</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior to implement solutions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to apply knowledge of best practice interventions for behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate as members of the MET and IEP team, or other school-based teams to develop interventions for promoting students' academic and behavioral success, IEP goals and objectives and plan of care development.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of Medical Plans of Care, MET/IEP process and Section 504.</p> </li><li> <p>Counsel students whose behavior, school progress, or mental/physical impairment indicate a need for assistance, diagnosing students' problems and arranging for needed services.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate with other involved school personnel in planning and providing support for students with disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Interpret special education policies, procedures, and guidelines to regular educational personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as a member of the school's MTSS team by providing evaluation, support, and consultation to general education teachers through the SST process.</p> </li><li> <p>Service delivery for students with IEPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate Peer to Peer Program.</p> </li><li> <p>Conflict management skills and ability to work with other service providers.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications and Education Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Degree in Social Work from an accredited collegiate institution.</p> </li><li> <p>Licensed and Certified School Social Worker. Must have SSW 310 Approval.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with At-Risk students in traditional and non traditional settings preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with the MTSS framework, IEP paperwork, evaluation tools and Section 504 plans preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments, keeping and using data to drive decision making, and developing Positive Behavior Intervention Plans preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision.</p> </li><li> <p>Early childhood experience preferred but not required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Schedule and Rate of Pay:</p> <p>40 week per year position (teacher work calendar)</p> <p>Salary according to master contract</p>
