That's why we are committed to hiring dedicated professionals who can</p> <p>provide exceptional care and build meaningful, compassionate relationships with</p> <p>students</p> <p>POSITION: Substitute School Nurse - Casual/Seasonal</p> <p>Substitute school nurses will fill in when a full-time school nurse is</p> <p>absent or additional help is needed.</p> <p>LOCATION: To be determined</p> <p>CLOSING DATE: Until filled</p> <p>START DATE: As needed</p> <p>WORK YEAR: School Year</p> <p>SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday 7.5 hours per day, including 30 minute unpaid lunch</p> <p>Substitute school nurses will fill in when a full-time school nurse is</p> <p>absent or additional help is needed.</p> <p>COMPENSATION: Hourly rate: $40</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability</p> <p>required:</p> <p>? Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) degree</p> <p>? Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience</p> <p>? Current Registered Nurse License recognized by the Delaware Board of Nursing</p> <p>? Valid and current CPR certification</p> <p>? Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on the Child Abuse</p> <p>Registry</p> <p>? Proficient in technology; Microsoft Office and Google applications</p> <p>? Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks</p> <p>? Knowledge of the assessment of children and adolescents to effectively identify</p> <p>health issues and provide appropriate care</p> <p>? Ability to manage chronic health care conditions including, but not limited to,</p> <p>providing enteral feedings, medication administration, diabetic monitoring and</p> <p>intervention, seizure management</p> <p>? Implementation of emergency action plans as prescribed by the student's</p> <p>physician</p> <p>? Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the</p> <p>essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Provide direct care for students: acute illness, injury, and emotional needs, manage</p> <p>chronic conditions (student care plans, emergency care plans)</p> <p>? Support the safety and well-being of all students by following school entry</p> <p>requirements, and following state regulations</p> <p>? Administer first aid in accordance with the established first aid procedures.</p> <p>? Follow Standing Orders.</p> <p>? Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.</p> <p>? Attend field trips with students as needed.</p> <p>? Comply with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies.</p> <p>a. Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated</p> <p>timelines.</p> <p>b. Utilizes all available resource materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District</p> <p>website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct,</p> <p>Administrative Procedures, School District Board Policies, etc.) to complete</p> <p>required paperwork, maintain professionalism and to avoid potential</p> <p>violations/noncompliance.</p> <p>? Remains "on call" on a daily basis to serve as a school nurse at any of the district's</p> <p>schools, including the John G. Leach School. When possible, notification of</p> <p>assignment will be provided in advance. When circumstances warrant,</p> <p>notification of assignment may occur on the day of the assignment, either in the</p> <p>morning or at any point in the day.</p> <p>? The substitute nurse will work the following hours accordingly (There may be</p> <p>instances when a partial work day is needed):</p> <p>Elementary Schools 8:35am-4:05pm</p> <p>The Leach School 7:45am-3:15pm</p> <p>Middle Schools 7:45am-3:15pm</p> <p>High School 7:00am-2:30pm</p> <p>? The substitute nurse is expected to familiarize themselves with the practices in</p> <p>any of the schools in which they provide nursing services.
