<p>Principal Technical Accountant</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Technical Accountant with deep expertise in ASC 606 and hands-on experience in public accounting and/or SaaS revenue environments. This role serves as a key technical leader within the revenue organization, partnering closely with Sales, Legal, Operations, and Finance to support complex revenue transactions and build scalable, well-controlled revenue processes. The ideal candidate brings exceptional technical accounting acumen, strong business partnership skills, and the ability to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Technical Revenue Analysis & Documentation</p> <ul> <li>Analyze complex and non-standard customer contracts, including multi-element arrangements, variable consideration, and contract modifications. </li><li>Document conclusions through clear, comprehensive technical accounting memos and ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment in accordance with ASC 606. </li></ul> <p>Cross-Functional Revenue Guidance</p> <ul> <li>Provide real-time accounting guidance to Sales, Legal, and Operations to help structure deals that meet revenue recognition requirements and support commercial objectives. </li><li>Collaborate cross-functionally to establish and maintain a controlled, efficient go-to-market framework. </li></ul> <p>Revenue Systems & Process Enablement</p> <ul> <li>Ensure proper setup, configuration, and maintenance within revenue systems to enable accurate and timely revenue recognition. </li><li>Support implementation of scalable processes that strengthen data quality, compliance, and operational excellence. </li></ul> <p>Journal Entries, Close Activities & Reconciliations</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries within Zuora and Workday, including deferred revenue, contract assets, and related accounts. </li><li>Support monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. </li><li>Prepare and review reconciliations for key revenue-related balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supporting documentation. </li></ul> <p>Internal Controls & SOX Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Serve as control owner for key revenue controls, including Standalone Selling Price (SSP) testing and contract review controls. </li><li>Maintain SOX compliance documentation and identify opportunities to strengthen and streamline internal controls. </li></ul> <p>Audit Support</p> <ul> <li>Act as a primary point of contact for revenue-related audit inquiries (internal and external). </li><li>Prepare supporting schedules, walkthrough documentation, and technical accounting analyses to ensure an efficient and successful audit process. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred. </li><li>Extensive hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, preferably in SaaS or high-growth technology environments. </li><li>Prior experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) or complex technical accounting roles. </li><li>Strong ability to interpret and analyze complex contracts and revenue arrangements. </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency preparing technical memos, journal entries, and reconciliations. </li><li>Experience with Zuora, Workday, or similar revenue automation systems. </li><li>Strong understanding of SOX requirements and control ownership. </li><li>Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for non-technical stakeholders. </li><li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience in a publicly traded or SaaS company. </li><li>Advanced experience supporting large-scale audits. </li><li>Strong process-improvement mindset with the ability to drive scalable system and workflow enhancements. </li><li>Ability to influence cross-functionally and build strong partnerships across the organization. </li></ul> <p>Compensation Range:</p> <p>$92,972-$129,231</p> <p>Compensation for this job is subject to market conditions, geographic considerations, the candidate's unique skills and experience, state and local laws, and budget.
