<p>Salary: $15.70 - $21.56/hour, based on experience</p> <p>Hours: 7.5 hours/day, Monday--Friday, 9 months/year</p> <p>Applicants should have a high school diploma, GED or associate's degree; experience working with students; good physical health; and mental and emotional stability.</p> <p>Applicants must be able to comply with the guidelines set forth in the No Child Left Behind Act, specifically an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or at least two (2) years of study in an accredited institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 75 quarter hours); or have passed the ParaPro test. This position requires an Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education with the ESEA Endorsement.</p> <p>Position: Educational Assistant</p> <p>Contract: Per Agreement</p> <p>Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ensure the safety of students as directed by the principal</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise and/or work with students both individually and in small groups as directed by the teacher</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in preparing and/or duplicating classroom material</p> </li><li> <p>Act as liaison for the District, community, staff, students, and parents with tact and diplomacy</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with classwork and make-up work</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain student and miscellaneous records</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students in the development of life skills and appropriate social behaviors</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain confidentiality of information, including, but not limited to, student records and free/reduced lunch forms.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize emergency procedure knowledge and notify the appropriate person</p> </li><li> <p>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities</p> </li><li> <p>Regularly communicate with parents and administrators</p> </li><li> <p>Distribute communiqués to be sent home with students</p> </li><li> <p>Attend educational field trips</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with recess/lunch supervision</p> </li><li> <p>Escort students throughout the building</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional growth seminars, workshops, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with toiletry needs as necessary</p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings and in-services as required</p> </li><li> <p>Assist teacher with clerical duties, i.e., preparing papers, typing</p> </li><li> <p>Administer basic first aid to students as necessary</p> </li><li> <p>Interact positively with staff, students, parents, and community members</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties related to the education and supervision of handicapped students as assigned by the building administrator</p> </li><li> <p>Stay current with Board guidelines and policies</p> </li><li> <p>Follow the District safety and regulatory compliance policy, procedures, and guidelines</p> </li><li> <p>Is punctual and prepared for immediate assumption of duties upon arrival at school</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize time appropriately and maintain good attendance</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervising teacher or principal</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional growth seminars</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Completed at least 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours as verified by college transcripts from an accredited institution of higher learning, associate's degree or higher, or passing score on State ParaPro Assessment</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must meet District hiring requirements</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)</p> </li><li> <p>Attain and maintain appropriate State of Ohio certification/license</p> </li><li> <p>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may feel appropriate</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate all applicable office equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively with others</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication skills</p> </li><li> <p>Basic computer/keyboarding skills</p> </li><li> <p>Organizational and problem-solving skills</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to operate special needs equipment</p> </li><li> <p>CPR certification</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations</p> </li><li> <p>Student management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Effective, active listening skills</p> </li><li> <p>Daily exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional interaction among unruly children</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional requirement to travel</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional requirement to carry, lift, push, and pull items up to a maximum of 50 pounds</p> </li><li> <p>May be called upon to physically restrain students who are potentially dangerous to themselves or others.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent and regular requirements to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, climb, kneel, and stoop</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions, i.e., being prepared to come to school on all scheduled work days, except calamity days</p> </li></ul>
