<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Lebanon Elementary School is seeking a Literacy Specialist for the SY'25-26. Come join our close knit team.</p> <p>TITLE:</p> <p>Literacy Specialist</p> <p>LOCATION:</p> <p>Lebanon Elementary School</p> <p>FTE: 1.0 FTE</p> <p>Salary & Benefits: In accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Lebanon Education Association.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>CT State Certification, or certifiability, in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts (#102) required </li><li>Outstanding ability as an elementary literacy educator required </li><li>Demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience </li><li>Evidence of well-developed knowledge and implementation of best practices in teaching literacy, Grades K-5 </li><li>Proven ability to work collaboratively with adults </li><li>Capacity to develop, model, and deliver effective learning interventions </li><li>Ability to assess performance, analyze data and plan long and short-term interventions </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Building Principal and Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment</p> <p>JOB GOAL:</p> <p>To assess literacy needs, develop and implement targeted instruction, and collaborate with teachers to improve literacy outcomes. They may work with individual students or small groups using evidence-based strategies and resources.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a member of the Multi Tiered Systems of Support Team and attends Student Support Team and parent meetings to discuss student progress and growth. </li><li>Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs. </li><li>Uses diagnostic information to design individualized programs for each student and interprets results to classroom teachers on a weekly basis. </li><li>Provide targeted interventions to support struggling readers and writers, helping them reach their potential. </li><li>Analyzes student data to monitor progress and inform instruction on a weekly basis. </li><li>Provides appropriate, meaningful, and timely feedback to improve student achievement. </li><li>Employs a variety of teaching techniques through the use of research-based instructional materials and has a strong knowledge of the Science of Reading best practices, and the Connecticut State Standards for Language Arts. </li><li>Screens and diagnoses students' reading skills and provides a literacy program for selected students based on their individual needs. </li><li>Stays informed about best practices and trends in literacy instruction. </li><li>Consistently acts as a team player by substitute teaching within the building as needed. </li><li>Designs and delivers high-quality professional learning experiences to support the implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with state standards and district priorities. </li></ul> <p>For more information, and to apply online, please visit:</p> <p>https://www.applitrack.com/lebanonct/onlineapp/</p>
