<p>The Surgical Technology Part Time Faculty member works with the Surgical Technology Director, the respective Campus Deans, the Dean of Health Sciences and other NWCC administration. The faculty position is appointed by the Dean of Health Sciences and holds the office subject to reappointment.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Must be a graduate of an approved Associate Degree Program and have/or obtain Surgical Technology Certification within 2 years of appointment. Must have legal active status to practice in the state of Mississippi and must:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a minimum of an Associate Degree </li><li>Have five years clinical experience working as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical room experience; or three years of experience as faculty in a surgical technology program </li><li>Satisfy clinical agency requirements (if responsibilities include direct clinical supervision of students", i.e., background checks, immunizations, CPR, etc. </li></ul> <p>JOB SUMMARY:</p> <p>The Surgical Technology Faculty member will provide instructional education through didactic and clinical modalities and support the administrative and supportive needs of NWCC and the surgical technology program.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the clinical instructor(s) in making rounds to check student progress in the clinical setting. This may include visiting multiple sites per day. </li><li>Assist the laboratory instructor(s) in teaching skills, monitoring students practice said skills, as well as assist in evaluating and scoring student skills checkoffs. </li><li>Assist in acquiring new clinical sites for the program </li><li>Assist in the organization and preparation of student admission paperwork </li><li>Assist in program events such as performing background checks, orientation, etc. </li><li>Potentially act as a substitute instructor for classroom instruction if the main instructor should be absent for any reason </li></ul> <p>Approximate hours* per week for this position:</p> <ul> <li>These are subject to fluctuate depending on the semester, as some semesters have more or less time spent in any of the settings listed above </li><li>20-30 hours per week </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to take initiative to solve problems. </li><li>Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software, and Internet use. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team. </li><li>Must be a "quick study" to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize. </li><li>Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the Surgical Technology Instructor regularly required to do the following:</p> <ul> <li>Stand for long periods </li><li>Talk, hear, view, and assist students </li><li>Communicate with others in person, telephone, zoom, & live chat </li><li>Sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms </li><li>Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel </li><li>Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds </li></ul> <p>APPLICATION:</p> <p>To apply, please attach and submit the following:</p> <ul> <li>Application at www.northwestms.edu </li><li>Resume </li><li>Transcripts </li><li>Provide two (2) letters of recommendation </li></ul>
