<p>Position Definition: The IT Intern will assist the City of Norwalk's IT Department with a variety of technology-related tasks, including hardware and software support, system administration, and customer service for city employees. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of Information Technology within a municipal government setting.</p> <p>General Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in the maintenance and support of computer hardware, software, and network systems across city departments. </li><li>Provide helpdesk support to city employees, including troubleshooting issues with computers, printers, and other office equipment. </li><li>Assist in the setup and configuration of new equipment, software, and systems. </li><li>Support IT staff with routine updates, software installations, and system patches. </li><li>Help maintain an inventory of IT equipment and software. </li><li>Assist with special IT projects, such as infrastructure improvements or cybersecurity initiatives. </li><li>Research and recommend technology solutions to enhance city operations. </li><li>Provide technical support to end-users by responding to service calls and help desk ticket requests. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Participate in team meetings and contribute to project discussions. </li><li>Document IT procedures and create user guides as needed. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Supervised By: Director of Information Technology.</p> <ul> <li>Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies. </li><li>Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions efficiently. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li></ul> <p>Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.</p> <p>License or Certification: None.</p> <p>Note: The above is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
