<p>About Varda</p> <p>Low Earth orbit is open for business. Varda was founded in January 2021 by Will Bruey and Delian Asparouhov with significant backing from world class investors including Khosla Ventures, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, Caffeinated Capital, General Catalyst, and Also Capital.</p> <p>Varda is headquartered in El Segundo, California, where we have offices and a production facility where our vehicles, equipment, and materials are built, integrated, and tested. Varda also has offices in Washington, DC and Huntsville, AL (coming soon).</p> <p>Join Varda, and work to create a bustling in-space ecosystem.</p> <p>About This Role</p> <p>Research conducted on the ISS has shown that a range of pharmaceuticals can be improved through processing in a microgravity environment - from biologics to small molecules. Varda's orbital platform offers a scalable path towards the production of pharmaceuticals in space for the first time.</p> <p>This role will be critical to executing Varda's pharmaceutical go-to-market strategy and working as the voice of the customer internally as Varda builds out payloads for missions. As part of the business development team, your efforts will directly accelerate the growth of the orbital economy and ensure that Varda remains at the forefront of in-space innovation.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Identify, qualify, pursue and close business opportunities throughout the pharmaceutical industry </li><li>Design and build initial contract structures, and pricing strategies </li><li>Keeping up to date on scientific literature and clearly articulating technical concepts </li><li>Prioritize a pipeline of activities from revenue driving to strategic partnerships </li><li>Ability to work closely with finance to build initial pricing models Iterate on initial go to market strategy based on extensive customer conversations </li><li>Serve as a representative for Varda at industry events, and interviews </li><li>Travel as needed for customer meetings and industry events (~30%) </li></ul> <p>Basic Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, science, or related field </li><li>2+ years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry bringing new technologies to market </li><li>Experience leading a partnership with a range of pharmaceutical companies - from small to large </li><li>Proven ability to quickly learn and understand novel pharmaceutical, and science concepts </li><li>Success in forming, and iterating on a go to market strategy, from contract formation, to closing, to account management </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills And Experience</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in a startup environment </li><li>Experience bringing a pharmaceutical to market </li><li>Marketing and event experience </li><li>Familiarity with discounted cash flow analysis </li><li>Familiarity with 505(b)(2) and 351(k) pathways </li></ul> <p>Pay Range</p> <ul> <li>Salary range: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00/per year </li><li>This role is on-site in El Segundo, CA </li><li>Leveling and base salary is determined by job-related skills, education level, experience level, and job performance. </li><li>You will be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of stock options and/or long-term cash awards. </li><li>Offer compensation also includes the ability to purchase company stock through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. </li></ul> <p>ITAR Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Varda, like all employers, must ensure that its employees working in the United States are lawfully authorized to work in the U.S. Additionally, our employees are exposed to and have access to certain export-controlled items.
