<p>PURPOSE OF POSITION</p> <p>Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, or other appropriate staff, the Building Services HVAC/R technician provides day-to-day repair and preventative maintenance services on hospital equipment and infrastructure. Provides services regarding the maintenance, planned interruption and long-term replacement of HVAC/R mechanical services. Troubleshoots, repairs, and performs maintenance on all types of mechanical, infrastructure, equipment/components and HVAC automated systems/components. Provides support and assistance, as appropriate and trains other skilled trade personnel engaged in heating and cooling maintenance activities as defined by previous experience, expertise and education.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Provide shift-level support for staffing, equipment issues, and HVAC/R operations. </li><li>Install, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and refrigeration units. </li><li>Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. </li><li>Diagnose and resolve electrical and refrigeration problems using appropriate tools and techniques. </li><li>Install sensors, actuators, pneumatic and electrical devices, and integrate them into the system database. </li><li>Complete conduit installation, wiring, and electrical connections. </li><li>Install plumbing supply and drain lines using welding, soldering, and adhesive bonding. </li><li>Ensure compliance with hospital standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols (OSHA, NFPA, Joint Commission). </li><li>Evaluate and procure physical plant needs; coordinate with contractors and vendors to maintain system integrity. Manage inventory and order supplies. </li><li>Create and update work orders in the preventive maintenance system. </li><li>Collaborate with maintenance staff and contractors on system upgrades and emergency repairs. </li><li>Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies to maintain patient comfort and safety. </li><li>Promote a safe work environment and apply certified techniques for tool and refrigerant handling. </li><li>Participate in ongoing evaluations to ensure quality and cost-effective systems and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Minimum Education/Experience</p> </li><li> <p>High School diploma</p> </li><li> <p>Four (4) years HVAC/R experience in a large institution, commercial facility, or service company</p> </li><li> <p>Technical Trades training in HVAC/R or equivalent work experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have general understanding of basic computer skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Required Qualifications</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess universal EPA refrigerant certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a good understanding of HVAC and refrigeration principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have a good understanding of electrical schematics and building automation controls is a plus.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to plan, prioritize workload, and effectively resolve problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively with health care professionals, engineers, contractors, and staff</p> </li><li> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to analyze data, diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment</p> </li><li> <p></p> </li><li>Ability to effectively interact with patient/customers (i.e., neonates/newborns, children, adolescents, young adult, middle-aged adults, as applicable) with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. <p></p> </li><li> <p>Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.</p> </li></ul> <p>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, identity, family status, gender, disability, or veteran status.</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Scheduled 8 hour shifts. </li><li>Rotating weekends and/or holidays. </li><li>Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours </li></ul>
