It is not the basis for or guarantee of a starting salary.</p> <p>Position Function:</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, performs duties necessary to support the Finance Department by conducting accounts receivable and payable through the reconciliation of invoices, vendor account coordination, processing employee loan and/or reimbursement programs, financial software system updates, revenue collections and deposit transactions audit, banking transaction preparation, processing budget transfers, ledger entries, annual audit support, and purchasing activities.</p> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Performs duties necessary to support the Finance Department including a review of accounts payable and or payroll as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares to adjust journal entries to the general ledger as needed to maintain the accuracy of the financial information.</p> </li><li> <p>Reconciles the general ledger to subsidiary ledgers and bank accounts to verify the accuracy of account balances.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares reports issued to federal and state regulatory agencies as required to request funding and to satisfy financial and reporting requirements of financial assistance programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in the compilation of regular monthly financial statements, statistical reports annual financial reports, special reports, and analysis.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares schedules and reports used to remit taxes to other governments.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains computerized fixed asset accounting system, including entry of new purchases, dispositions, and reconciliation to the general ledger.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs research projects as requested by superiors in the Finance Department.</p> </li><li> <p>Uploads and posts financial information to the general ledger from various subsidiary ledgers.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists personnel in other City departments in solving problems of a technical accounting nature.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares schedules and reports used to record a variety of financial transactions.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists external auditors during annual audits, including preparation of financial statements and supporting work paper files.</p> </li></ul> <p>Environment:</p> <p>Duties are primarily performed within an office environment or setting. Possible exposure to dust and mold.</p> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Required knowledge and experience are normally obtained through the completion of an advanced education from an accredited educational institution of higher learning resulting in a Bachelor's Degree (or commitment to have the degree completed in a year) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field and at least one (1) year of related work experience in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field are preferred. </li><li>Work requires the ability to read and write letters, memos, spreadsheets, and other job-related analyses. </li><li>Must possess excellent oral communication skills. </li><li>Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations and/or analysis. </li><li>Must be able to research, compile and analyze data in an acceptable format. </li><li>Should be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software. </li><li>Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other government representatives, contractors, partners, consultants, vendors, the media, and the general public is essential. </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a Valid Florida Class E driver's license. </li><li>Must pass applicable pre-employment testing and background and credit checks. </li></ul>
