<p>Job Description:</p> <p>OLM Prep Preschool is looking for a caring, reliable assistant teacher to join our PreK team! Your role would be to support classroom teachers, engage with young learners, and help create a warm, nurturing environment for our preschoolers.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities: Preschool Assistant Teacher</p> <ul> <li> <p>Classroom Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing educational activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and organize materials and supplies for daily activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the lead teacher in maintaining a structured and positive classroom environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Child Supervision:</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with snack and meal times, ensuring nutritional needs are met.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Be familiar with the procedures for reporting abuse and neglect, as required by law.</p> </li><li> <p>Developmental Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Understand the state's early learning standards Connecticut Early Learning Development Standards (ELDS).</p> </li><li> <p>Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.</p> </li><li> <p>Engage children in age-appropriate activities and play.</p> </li><li> <p>Encourage positive behavior and social interactions among children.</p> </li><li> <p>Parent Communication:</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with parents and caregivers about their child's progress and daily activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in organizing parent-teacher meetings and events.</p> </li><li> <p>Classroom Maintenance:</p> </li><li> <p>Help maintain a clean and organized classroom.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with the set-up and clean-up of activities and projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that classroom equipment and supplies are in good condition.</p> </li><li> <p>Professional Development:</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in training and professional development sessions as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Be aware of and compliant with best practices and state regulations in early childhood education (CT OEC).</p> </li><li> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Mobility and Stamina: The ability to stand for extended periods, move quickly and easily around a classroom or playground to supervise children, and participate in active play.</p> </li><li> <p>Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and carry children (up to 40 lbs or more), supplies, or equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Bending, Kneeling, and Sitting: Frequent bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor to engage with children at their level, assist with their needs, or participate in activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Vision and Hearing: Adequate vision and hearing to effectively supervise children and respond quickly to their needs.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Exam and Health Clearance: Completion of a comprehensive physical exam and an adult medical statement signed by a physician, advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), or physician assistant (PA), to confirm the absence of medical or emotional conditions that could pose a risk to children or interfere with the ability to provide proper care. *This is an important requirement for child care licensing in CT.</p> <p>Interested Applicants should send a cover letter and resume to:</p> <p>Cathy Miller, Principal. cmiller@olmprep.com</p>
