<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Paraeducator / Behavior Support (Job ID 1120)</p> <p>Immediate Opening</p> <p>Full Time/Academic Calendar 185 days + option for additional work in Extended School Year</p> <p>Partnership Learning Academy, Terryville, CT</p> <p>Reports to the Principal</p> <p>Position Overview: The Special Education Paraeducator will work collaboratively with certified special education teachers to support the academic, behavioral, and social development of students in grades K-5. The individual will provide one-on-one and small group instruction, implement specialized teaching strategies, and assist in the creation and adaptation of educational materials to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs) under the guidance of certified special education teachers and BCBA. </li><li>Support students in developing independent learning skills and self-management strategies. </li><li>Assist in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. </li><li>Monitor student behavior and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student progress and needs. </li><li>Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to support the overall development and progress of students. </li><li>Assist in the preparation and adaptation of educational materials and resources to meet the individual learning needs of students. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Qualifications/Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must have taken and passed the ParaPro test or have 2 years full time post secondary education (minimum 60 credits) or Associates Degree or higher </li><li>Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or interested in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), but all individuals passionate about working with students are encouraged to apply. </li><li>Consistent attendance is an essential function of this position </li><li>Previous experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred. </li><li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities. </li><li>Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding as required. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive health benefits package </li><li>Personal and sick time </li><li>On-going RBT supervision hours by BCBA is available </li><li>Training and certification in physical management intervention </li></ul> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions</p> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Applications should be submitted for consideration by visiting EdAdvance's employment page at, http://edadvance.org/about-us/employment, and click on the APPLY button next to the job posting of interest.</p> <p>Human Resources</p> <p>EdAdvance</p> <p>P.O.
