The mission of the Commission is to eradicate discrimination in the Commonwealth through enforcement of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act. To do this, the agency receives, investigates and litigates, complaints of discrimination.</p> <p>KCHR looks for individuals who have a demonstrated passion for civil rights and years of experience working in civil rights and justice-oriented positions, on behalf of Kentucky's protected classes.</p> <p>We seek persons who understand and are driven by the belief that all Kentuckians deserve to be treated equally, in relation to housing, employment and public accommodations, no matter who they are.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Writes charges of discrimination and maintains detailed records of all inquiries and training activities. </li><li>Conducts trainings, workshops, and presentations to educate the public about the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and agency operations. </li><li>Works with civic groups and local governments to establish or revitalize local Human Rights Commissions, providing technical assistance and training. </li><li>Prepares reports on activities and maintains accurate records of workshops and training statistics. </li><li>Helps with education and outreach publications </li><li>Writes journal articles </li></ul> <p>The agency prefers a candidate fluent in Spanish.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience which involves the investigation, interpretation, or enforcement of human rights legislation, research, administrative work, community organization work, or social work.</p> <p>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in social work or related field will substitute for two years of the required experience. Graduation from an American Bar Association recognized school of law will substitute for the education and two years of the experience requirement. Licensure to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky will substitute for the education and experience requirements.</p> <p>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in one of the above fields will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Work is typically performed in an office setting or in a public forum.
