<p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>The Diverse Scholars Program Assistant works as a member of the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA). The Diverse Scholars Program Assistant assists the Diverse Scholars Program Coordinator with the management of the University's Diverse Scholars Program.</p> <p>The Diverse Scholars Program at Framingham State University invites students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 18-22, to come to campus and experience FSU. Students audit a course, develop job skills, and spend time with their peer mentors.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED:</p> <p>Diverse Scholars Program Coordinator</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:</p> <p>Peer Mentors</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate the Diverse Scholars Program (18-22). </li><li>Facilitate communication between the Diverse Scholars Program (18-22) and Diverse Scholars, educational coaches, sending school districts, peer mentors, internship supervisors, professors, and parents </li><li>Plan and Facilitate Student, Educational Coach, and Peer Mentor Orientations </li><li>Train and manage Diverse Scholars Program (18-22) Peer Mentors </li><li>Procure class materials for Diverse Scholars (18-22) </li><li>Procure and Prepare for third-party provided workshops for Diverse Scholars (18-22) </li><li>Participate in Person-Centered Planning with Diverse Scholars and their Educational Coaches </li><li>Place Diverse Scholars (18-22) in on-campus internships </li><li>Plan and facilitate exciting extracurricular events for Diverse Scholars </li><li>Prepare invoices for Diverse Scholars' (18-22) sending school districts </li><li>Assist with management of the MAICEI Grant </li><li>Facilitate student recruitment for 18-22 program through partnering school districts </li><li>Give tours (overview of program, tour of campus, student interview) to prospective Diverse Scholars, their families, and their school districts. </li><li>Consult with educational coaches and high school liaisons regarding nstructional needs of students </li><li>Provide academic consultation to students enrolled in the Diverse Scholars Program for course selection and registration </li><li>Assist students in development of self-advocacy skills and the use of support materials, including assistive technology </li><li>Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>Majority of work hours take place in an office environment requiring use of computer and telephone.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Experience with or knowledge of disability laws, including ADA and Section 504 of the Rehab Act as well as secondary education accommodations process </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in Office Management and/or Special Education, Educational Psychology, or Counseling </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. The scheduled hours are between 8:30am - 4pm weekdays. The pay rate is $28-30 per hour.
