<p>The Special Education Teacher for the Connect Program provides direct support to students with social-emotional, health, neurological, learning, and sensory integration challenges in a therapeutic setting within the general education school environment. The teacher is responsible for delivering individualized support, coordinating clinical and behavioral interventions, and promoting reintegration into the general education setting. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing data-driven lesson plans, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with parents, colleagues, and related service providers to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet individual student needs.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Collaborate with the Special Education Coordinator/Team Chairperson, related service providers, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs. </li><li>Coordinate with related service providers to ensure that accommodations and modifications are effectively implemented in both the general curriculum and school environment. </li><li>Provide direct instruction, therapeutic interventions, and behavioral support to students within the Connect Program. </li><li>Employ evidence-based instructional methods and materials aligned with student goals, including small-group and individual instruction. </li><li>Monitor student progress regularly using structured data and assessments to inform IEP progress reporting and placement decisions. </li><li>Develop, implement, and monitor individualized support plans using structured tools such as Google Forms and debriefing documents. </li><li>Collaborate consistently with clinical staff, classroom teachers, support personnel, and families to maintain alignment across settings. </li><li>Implement and manage a Level System to support students in developing and generalizing social-emotional and behavioral skills. </li><li>Lead social-emotional learning (SEL) activities and targeted skill-building sessions in both small groups and one-on-one formats. </li><li>Participate in biweekly clinical team meetings to review data, student progress, and any medical or programmatic updates. </li><li>Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment where students can regulate, access instruction, and prepare for successful reintegration. </li><li>Supervise and support assigned Instructional Assistants; collaborate with Behavior Technicians and related service providers. </li><li>Communicate regularly with families, including the sharing of weekly data summaries and serving as liaison during IEP meetings. </li><li>Provide in-classroom check-ins and observational support to promote skill generalization and consistency across environments. </li><li>Analyze individual student data to inform the development of measurable goals, objectives, and aligned lesson plans. </li><li>Collaborate with community agencies, when needed, to ensure appropriate programming and coordination of services. </li><li>Proactively communicate with teaching staff and school administrators regarding student programming, expectations, and progress. </li><li>Maintain consistent two-way communication with families to keep them informed of student progress and gather input for planning. </li><li>Work in collaboration with the district BCBA to develop and implement behavior support plans; oversee and monitor implementation by Instructional Assistants. </li><li>Create and manage daily lesson plans and schedules, incorporating the role and responsibilities of Instructional Assistants. </li><li>Train and supervise Instructional Assistants in instruction delivery and data collection procedures. </li><li>Prepare instructional and therapeutic materials to be used during Extended School Year (ESY) services. </li><li>Participate in all required professional development and training sessions, including those related to de-escalation, ABA, and Zones of Regulation. </li><li>Attend school-based meetings focused on continuous improvement of academic and non-academic programming. </li><li>Maintain appropriate DESE licensure and stay current with professional standards. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Director of Pupil Personnel Services. </li></ol>
