<p>Position Summary Description</p> <p>Directly accountable for providing engineering services and technical consultation requiring professional level knowledge of plant operations and a specialized experience and understanding of the operating principles and design of Combined Cycle plants and related auxiliary systems and components. Manages and coordinates engineering activities in support of the operations and maintenance of the power plant to improve reliability, operability and maintainability. Plans, develops, designs, and executes capital and major expense projects. This involves but is not limited to exploration of project needs, definition of scope, engineering oversight and consultation across cross-functional teams to deliver results within budget and on schedule. Provides technical directions and reviews engineering and design drawings, technical calculations, and other deliverables of peers and vendors to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, policies and guidelines. Champions any necessary changes to department or corporate processes and procedures to drive continuous improvements and maintain alignment with corporate goals and division business imperatives. Embodies a blend of power generation technical expertise with strong project management skills.</p> <p>Qualifications and Education Requirements</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited curriculum is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida and PMP certification are preferred. At least Eight (8) years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in large, modern power plants or industrial facilities dealing with design, construction and project management, operation and maintenance. Strong working knowledge and experience in the development of engineering and technical specifications, detailed engineering budgetary estimates, material assessments and evaluations, and project construction work plan..</p> <p>Core Competencies: Adaptable, Collaborative, Conscientious, Critical-Thinking, Outcome-Driven and Professional</p> <p>Technical Competencies/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction and/or repair of power generation facilities </li><li>Problem analysis </li><li>Analytical thinking </li><li>Project development, planning and implementation </li><li>Cost / Benefit Analysis </li><li>Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract review, execution, and management </li><li>Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the construction and/or repair of combined cycle power generation facilities </li><li>Technical drawing interpretation and modification </li><li>Equipment, system and process assessments </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications </li></ul> <p>Soft Competencies/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Effective verbal/nonverbal, listening and written communications </li><li>Time Management </li><li>Integrity </li><li>Self-Motivation </li><li>Organizational/Interpersonal/Leadership </li><li>Multi-Tasking - multiple assignments and demands </li><li>Attention to Detail </li><li>Relationship Management and collaboration </li><li>Influence and drive cross-functional teams </li><li>Focus on Quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop, maintain and drive adherence to SECI standards, specifications, and work methods during the engineering design and construction phases of power generation projects. </li><li>Controls the activities of outside consultants and contractors to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and meets the obligations of the contract. </li><li>Reviews proposal evaluations and recommendations with department managers to determine the best alternatives. </li><li>Oversees performance of contracted engineering, coordinates all contractor and owner's engineering interfaces, and ensures projects are completed according to project construction drawings, specifications, schedule, quality and performance requirements. </li><li>Reviews potential and existing vendors to ensure their capability of providing equipment and/or systems that are reliable and maintainable. </li><li>Leads/supports project team in documenting major project decisions. This includes the evaluation of alternatives, seeking and securing concurrence from key stakeholders, identifying and addressing/mitigating risks or issues within the project. </li><li>Prepares specifications and engineering drawings for bid packages. </li><li>Develops budgetary estimates for projects </li><li>Inspects major plant equipment such as boilers, turbines, precipitators, tanks etc. </li><li>Assists in the creation and updating of ten-year project plan. </li><li>Evaluates bid proposals and makes recommendations for award of contract. </li><li>Investigates need for engineering changes to existing equipment and systems. </li><li>Conducts economic, operating and maintenance feasibility studies of complex engineering situations and systems. </li><li>Conducts analysis of complex engineering problems and design deficiencies and recommends solutions to management. </li><li>Coordinates with project team to ensure that design, procurement and construction of projects are executed in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, schedules, and good engineering practice. </li><li>Prepares engineering progress reports dealing with design, construction, budget, cash flow and manufacturing activities associated with assigned projects. </li><li>Stays updated on project progress, technical issues, milestones and managed risks </li><li>Promotes safe behaviors and takes a proactive approach regarding personal safety, safety of others and complies with all OSHA and SECI safety rules. Must complete all necessary online or classroom safety courses as directed. Must participate in safety briefings and meetings. </li><li>Takes a proactive approach regarding environmental rules and regulations governing the operation of the plant. Must complete all necessary online or classroom environmental courses as directed. Required to immediately report any environmental reportable incidents. </li><li>Leads multidisciplinary project team to complete development, detailed engineering as well as construction planning and execution activities for generation projects. </li><li>Performs other duties as applicable to the position or as assigned. </li><li>NERC Compliance: Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole's Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in "audit-ready" form. You should also be familiar with Seminole's Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole's compliance program and your duties and responsibilities in the SOM. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Must be able to work and access all locations of the plant and grounds. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolds. Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <p>Required to respond to calls and work extended hours when needed. Some travel and work outside of normal business hours.
