<p>SEASONAL PARKS LABORER - TRAILS AND OPEN SPACES</p> <p>CLOSING DATE: Open until filled</p> <p>PAY RANGE: $13.80 - $16.55</p> <p>SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday; Starting from 6:00 AM - 5 PM; Flexible hours from 20-40hrs a week; Job ends at close of season</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Parks</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>Performs a variety of entry-level manual and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and upkeep of city parks, trails, open spaces, and related facilities to ensure safe, clean, and attractive public amenities.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>(The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned.)</p> <ul> <li>Maintains grounds, landscaped areas, open spaces and trails </li><li>Performs basic irrigation system maintenance and repairs </li><li>Maintains trails, including debris removal and minor surface repairs </li><li>Assists with setup, support, and teardown of city events (may include weekends) </li><li>Operates and maintains tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner </li><li>May apply herbicides along roadways, open spaces, parks and trails regularly </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>No formal education required </li><li>Previous experience in trail maintenance, herbicide application, landscape maintenance is preferred, but not required. On the job training will be provided. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to perform physically demanding labor for extended periods </li><li>Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds </li><li>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions </li><li>Basic communication skills </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the public </li><li>Ability to learn operation and maintenance of equipment such as mowers, sprayers, trimmers, and hand tools </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age </li><li>Valid driver's license </li><li>Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening </li><li>Will be required to obtain Utah pesticide applicators license within 30 days, preference may be given to those who are currently licensed </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation. Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, hiking, use of herbicides, hand and power tools.</p>
