<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Newtown Public Schools</p> <p>July 1, 2025</p> <p>POSITION: School Nurse; full-time; 7:30-3:30 (Divided day; 4 hours each in two</p> <p>schools)</p> <p>SCHOOL: Fraser Woods Montessori and Housatonic Valley Waldorf</p> <p>STARTING DATE: August 20, 2025</p> <p>REMUNERATION: per the Newtown Public Schools Contract</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide routine and emergency health care, including medication administration, to students pre k (15 months) through grade 8. </li><li>Initiate, develop, maintain & coordinate student health condition management (EHCP/IHCP) & make appropriate referrals. </li><li>Promote and protect the optimal physical, social and emotional health of students in order to support the education process. </li><li>Implement all federal, state and local screening mandates and laws. </li><li>Observe, identify and address health patterns and atypical findings. </li><li>Maintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of the students. </li><li>Provide health education and appropriate referrals to community resources for students and families. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the student, school and home. </li><li>Work collaboratively with school administrators and staff. </li><li>Familiarity with and/or respect for alternative educational methods. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; related degrees considered </li><li>Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut. </li><li>Current CPR Certification required. </li><li>Minimum of one year experience in hospital nursing, school health nursing, community health nursing, or pediatric nursing. </li><li>Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Strong technology skills and knowledge of Google sheets and docs. </li></ul> <p>APPLICATIONS: Please apply on line through the following link:</p> <p>www.applitrack.com/newtown/onlineapp/</p> <p>The Newtown Public School District is committed to a policy of equal opportunity/affirmative action for all qualified persons.
