<p>The position is at the full performance level located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) in the Environmental Management Service. The Laundry Worker position is organizationally located in the Office of Textile Care Facility and functions under the supervision of the Laundry Plant Business Manager, Chief and Assistant Chief.</p> <p>Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Prepares and loads carts of clean linen for delivery to wards, clinics, and other areas; and loads carts according to established linen quotas. </li><li>Handles telephone requests for additional linen and maintains records of all such requests. </li><li>Performs all duties in accordance with station policies, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the laundry section. </li><li>Operates the flatwork spreader/feeder, ironer, folder, and stacker/conveyor; and operates industrial dryers, a small piece folder, and garment tunnel finisher. </li><li>Unloads industrial washers and operates lift stations, index switches, and rail sling systems. </li><li>Sorts soiled linen by classification and degree of soil and follows all established procedures. </li><li>Performs routine care and maintenance of machines and equipment (i.e., tightening nuts and bolts and/or greasing/oiling fittings and wheels); and inspects linens for damage, stained items, etc. </li><li>Maintains production counts and inventory records of all supplies. </li><li>Follows established safety and infection control procedures; and keeps the assigned work area clean and free of debris. </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday</p> <p>Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD12461A</p> <p>Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting.</p> <p>Incumbent must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to stand and walk consistently,</p> <p>perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear PPE for extended period of time as</p> <p>dictated by the work setting. Incumbent will be involved with the loading, unloading, and transporting clean and soiled linen carts weighing up to 700 pounds.</p>
