<p>Field Work Lab Assistant for Occupational Therapy</p> <p>Starting date: Fall 2025</p> <p>Carroll University seeks a Field Work Lab Assistant for Occupational Therapy for the Fall of 2025 and Spring of 2026</p> <p>Course: OTH521 Introduction to Level I Fieldwork/ OTH531 Level I Fieldwork</p> <p>Time/Days: 8:30-11:30am/ 12:30-3:30pm Wednesday; WI Ave. Clinic</p> <p>Brief Couse Description: This course focuses on introductory fieldwork experiences which foster an awareness of how scientific and discipline-specific foundational knowledge, and the values and philosophy of occupational therapy link to various clinical settings that endorse the therapeutic value of occupation. Students are provided opportunities to observe and professionally interact with clients and other health care providers within a clinical environment, developing behaviors towards becoming working health care professionals. Experiences include exposure to potential areas of practice and growth areas for OT, situations that enhance an understanding of the developmental stages, tasks and roles of individuals across the life span, and learning opportunities directly related to occupational therapy. Students will gain an understanding of the psychosocial factors that affect the quality of interpersonal relationships and engagement in occupation.</p> <p>Qualifications: An earned Masters' degree from an institution that is accredited by the USDE-recognized regional accrediting body; minimum of three years documented clinical practice as an occupational therapist with a demonstrated knowledge of current occupational therapy practice; superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills needed for working with diverse stakeholders. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the State of Wisconsin and have initial NBCOT certification. Applicant should be proficient in computer technology and possess strong organizational skills. Strong desire to work in higher education Official transcripts due upon hire.</p> <p>The Program: The Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) program is an accelerated program consisting of six consecutive semesters of full-time study in two calendar years. Specific modules, activities, and learning experiences within the MOT program are shared among graduate health science programs to support true inter-professional education and prepare students for collaboration in their clinical practice area.</p> <p>MOT embraces the concept of healthy occupational engagement as a determinant of health. It acknowledges the essence of healthy life participation lies in meaningful occupation, which is an experience unique to each person and the context in which they exist. Diversity is an essential factor for humanity. There lies the link between one's unique experiences and Occupational Therapy practice. This is the core philosophy and mission of the MOT program.</p> <p>The College: The College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs through seven departments; Public Health, Athletic Training, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Department of Movement Sciences. The mission of the College of Health Science is to educate students to be innovative professionals who collaborate to serve the health needs of their communities. The College of Health Sciences currently accounts for ~60% of University enrollment. A dynamic and growing entity, College wide foci include interprofessional education and practice, the integrated approach to health, innovative learning and healthcare technologies, community partnerships and service to medically underserved populations. To support these initiatives the University has renovated a medical arts building to house and support its service learning and Community Health Service programs and partnered with the Waukesha Free Clinic at Carroll University. The College supports the interdisciplinary nature of health science education and has received federal and private foundation grant awards to support these, as well as program specific initiatives. The Pioneer Core general education curriculum has a strong emphasis on developing intercultural awareness, including cross-cultural immersion experiences.
