<p>The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.</p> <p>We are seeking an HR Supervisor responsible for managing multiple human resource programs at the Louisiana War Veterans home as well as perform diversified analytical tasks. </p> <p>An ideal candidate should posses the following competencies:</p> <p>Communicating Effectively: The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement.</p> <p>Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.</p> <p>Thinking Critically: The ability to analyze information objectively, identify connections across sources, and form logical, well-supported conclusions.</p> <p>Acting with Ethics and Integrity: The ability to make choices that reflect ethical standards, integrity and honesty, regardless of circumstances or personal benefit.</p> <p>Building and Supporting Teams: The ability to combine one's actions and efforts with others to work toward achieving a common goal.</p> <p>Displaying Professionalism: The ability to uphold workplace standards through consistent conduct, responsible communication, and consideration for others.</p> <p>Managing Programs: The ability to plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate programs to achieve strategic objectives and long-term outcomes.</p> <p>Six years of human resources experience; OR</p> <p>Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR</p> <p>A bachelor's degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR</p> <p>An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:</p> <p>Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.</p> <p>Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>As a Human Resources Supervisor, you will be responsible for the manual and automated processing of personnel actions as well as maintenance of personnel records. In this role you will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide general, basic explanation of employee benefit programs and advises employees of various options available under some programs. </li><li>Review benefits documents for accuracy and completeness; forwards to appropriate office. </li><li>Provide induction documents to new employees, providing guidance and a general overview of each document; follows up to ensure new employee timely completes all required forms. </li><li>Review position descriptions for accuracy of organizational information. Contacts employees, supervisors, managers, etc. to elicit corrections or resolve minor conflicts in information presented. </li><li>Review files on a routine basis to ensure that current descriptions are maintained for all positions. </li><li>Participate in salary surveys and other research needed to support requests for special pay actions. </li><li>Provide grievance forms and routine procedural instructions to employees. </li><li>Collect and compiles statistical data required to prepare reports. </li><li>Provide assistance to agency personnel on routine or limited Civil Service rules, Federal and State laws, and department policies and procedures in assigned areas. </li><li>Assist Administrator and managers by providing routine information relative to the performance appraisal system.
