Interested internal applicants must submit a letter of interest and a copy of a current NMPED Native Language and Culture license with their application. Applications must be received by 5pm on April 11, 2022 </li></ul> <p>Purpose: To provide classroom instruction in the Zuni language to meet the goals and objectives of the Zuni Public School District's State Bilingual Program.</p> <p>This job description is to be used as a guide for accomplishing state and district objectives and only covers the primary functions and responsibilities of the position. It is in no way to be construed as an all-encompassing list of duties.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate of Arts or Applied Science Degree; </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>An equivalent combination of education experience; </li></ul> <p>AND</p> <ul> <li>Must have a NM Education Assistant License Level II (502); </li><li>Must have a NM Native American Language and Culture Certificate (520); </li><li>Have knowledge of Zuni culture, traditions, customs and language; </li><li>Experienced in computer operations with the ability to enter data, utilize interactive panels, Student Information System (SIS), Google programs and Microsoft Office programs; </li><li>Experienced in developing lessons using backwards planning, tracking information for progress monitoring and records management; </li><li>Must be fluent in the Zuni language and English language with the ability to communicate effectively with students both orally and in writing; </li><li>Must have skills in establishing and maintaining effective educational relationship with students; </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality; </li><li>Ability to participate in focused and reflective work ethics; </li><li>Clearly and accurately communicate with teachers, students, supervisors, and families; </li><li>Exhibit personal responsibility for daily work and attendance and personal appearance; </li><li>Effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents, peers and supervisors. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Treat all students with dignity and respect; </li><li>Follow the directions of the school administrator and the bilingual program coordinator; </li><li>Provide direct instruction in the Zuni language to varying levels of students; </li><li>Implement the Zuni curriculum in alignment with the pacing guide of the curriculum; </li><li>Coordinate with other Zuni language instructors on assignments, tasks, projects and behavior as needed; </li><li>Coordinate with other Zuni language instructors concerning curriculum, students, activities and Zuni language issues; </li><li>Ensure that required testing is done on a timely basis; </li><li>Manage multiple projects, schedules and student activities; </li><li>Plan, develop and implement instructional plans; </li><li>Reinforce academic behaviors to individual or small groups of students and monitor student progress; </li><li>Establish, model, practice and reinforce age-appropriate rules and logical consequences; </li><li>Maintains data charts and records related to student progress; </li><li>Maintain a clean, safe and organized classroom; </li><li>Provide immediate, corrective and/or positive feedback to students regarding behavior and/or academic performance; </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of student records, conversations, discussions and classroom information; </li><li>Maintain discipline in the classroom at all times; </li><li>Participate in required professional development opportunities and meetings; </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned on a timely basis. </li></ul> <p>Physical Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Frequently required to stand, talk, hear and sometimes walk and sit; </li><li>Occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds, may lift up to 75 pounds with the help of another employee; </li><li>Hand and eye coordination in operating computer, interactive panel </li><li>Usually works on even surfaces, may walk on uneven surfaces outdoors; </li><li>Exposed to various levels of noise (talking, assemblies, dance activities, etc.); </li><li>May work in close proximity to other individuals; </li><li>General vision, corrected to 20/20, reads a multitude of records, correspondence and data. </li></ul> <p>Mental Functions:</p> <p>Must be able to:</p> <ul> <li>apply knowledge of current research and theory for language instruction; </li><li>plan and implement lessons based on school and program objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned; </li><li>read, analyze and interpret curriculum, test, evaluate bilingual material; </li><li>translate the English and Zuni language for the purpose of student learning; </li><li>interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form; </li><li>work with students and parents in a way that will maintain their goodwill;
