<p>Director of Human Resources</p> <p>Department: Human Resources</p> <p>Employment Type: Full Time</p> <p>Location: New York, NY</p> <p>Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000 / year</p> <p>Description</p> <p>We are seeking a skilled, people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy and execution for our New York market, with the role expanding to include the New Jersey market following an upcoming integration. Reporting to the Vice President of HR, this role will play a critical part in supporting local leadership, scaling people operations, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture.</p> <p>This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving HR programs across the full employee lifecycle and leading M&A integration efforts while ensuring alignment with the broader platform's goals and standards.</p> <p>The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation as a former or current HR Business Partner, with experience in aligning people strategies with business objectives, coaching managers, and driving scalable HR initiatives that support team effectiveness and employee development.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Regional HR Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Serve as an HR leader for the New York business unit and, post-integration, for the combined NY-NJ region. </li><li>Advise and support local leadership on talent strategies, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and talent issues. </li><li>Act as a strategic advisor and thought partner to local managers on people-related decision-making. </li><li>Serve as a coach and confidant to managers, helping them grow in their leadership capabilities while navigating employee challenges. </li><li>Act as the bridge between local business needs and enterprise-wide HR priorities. </li></ul> <p>Talent Management & Development</p> <ul> <li>Execute performance management, career development, and succession planning programs in the region. </li><li>Partner with managers to identify evolving talent needs, develop team-building strategies, and implement best practices in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and retention. </li><li>Support leadership development and employee coaching efforts at the local level. </li></ul> <p>M&A Integration & Change Management</p> <ul> <li>Partner with the VP of HR and integration teams to support the successful onboarding and cultural integration of the NY entity and then the NJ entity. </li><li>Apply HRBP expertise to support organizational design, team alignment, and the development of integration roadmaps that prioritize both culture and operational efficiency. </li><li>Provide leadership coaching through transition periods, helping managers communicate effectively and maintain team morale. </li><li>Lead communication and change management efforts to ensure a smooth transition for employees. </li></ul> <p>Employee Experience & Culture</p> <ul> <li>Champion a values-driven, inclusive culture across NY (and eventually NJ), reinforcing a consistent employee experience. </li><li>Bring a strong business partner mindset to shape inclusive engagement strategies that drive a sense of purpose and connection within teams. </li><li>Use qualitative and quantitative data (e.g., engagement surveys, retention trends) to advise managers on improving employee experience. </li><li>Lead employee engagement, wellness, and recognition programs aligned with platform initiatives. </li><li>Leverage employee feedback and data to guide local actions and continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>HR Operations & Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Oversee day-to-day HR activities, including employee relations, compliance, and HR policy execution. </li><li>Collaborate with platform HR and functional partners (e.g., benefits, payroll, legal) to ensure efficient service delivery. </li><li>Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws. </li></ul> <p>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience as an HR Business Partner, with a track record of success in partnering with business leaders to drive people strategies and team development. </li><li>Proven experience in HR leadership roles, ideally 8+ years. </li><li>Strong consulting, coaching, and facilitation skills; ability to influence and support managers at all levels of the organization. </li><li>Demonstrated expertise in talent management, engagement, and retention. </li><li>Comfortable navigating ambiguity and serving as a trusted advisor during times of organizational change and growth. </li><li>AEC industry experience preferred. </li><li>Experience supporting or leading through M&A integrations preferred. </li><li>Strong knowledge of HR operations, employment law, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. </li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust with leaders and employees alike. </li></ul> <p>About Trilon</p> <p>Trilon was formed with the vision of building the next Top 20 infrastructure consulting firm in North America by bringing together some of the nation's best infrastructure consulting firms, focused on delivering practical and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
