Behavior technician will implement the behavior support plan designed by behavior specialist, and gather data required to monitor the progress of the target behavior according to the plan. That person will remain active in acquiring knowledge in the field of applied behavior analysis and best practice in the classroom. Requires excellent communication skills and experience working in the ABA program designed to meet the needs of students with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must have 48 college credits or associate degree or creditable paraprofessional experience </li><li>Must have RBT certification or willing to go through the training to be RBT </li><li>Must be trained in the strategies of Safety Care and/or be willing to be trained to be the Safety Care trainer </li><li>Experience as a classroom staff of students with behavioral difficulties </li><li>Ability to be flexible with scheduling </li><li>Strong collaboration and communication skills </li><li>Ability to model behavior management strategies for students with behavioral difficulties </li><li>On-going knowledge of research in the area of Applied Behavior Analysis </li></ul> <p>Basic Function I: Behavior support for students in needs</p> <p>Specific Work Activities</p> <ul> <li>Assist behavior specialist in developing materials for classroom organization, scheduling, and behavior management </li><li>Model and provide classroom support in use of ABA strategies, discrete trials, and data collection </li><li>Assist IEP team members in data collection and graphing of the data </li><li>Assist behavior specialist during monthly training for staff members of substantially separate behavior classrooms in a workshop setting </li><li>Assist behavior specialist to prepare training for teachers, related service providers and paraprofessionals during their early release days and professional development </li></ul> <p>Basic Function II: Crisis management support for students in need Specific Work Activities</p> <ul> <li>Behavior support for students in crisis will be available after communication between behavior specialist and SAC has been made. </li><li>Behavior support schedule and plan for emergency cases will be developed by behavior specialist </li><li>Behavior specialist will gather data to support the decision of the next step for the crisis cases by communicating with principal, assistant director and SAC </li><li>Any adjustments to the plan will be made by behavior specialist </li></ul> <p>Basic Function III: Summer Program Support</p> <p>Specific Work Activities</p> <ul> <li>Provide behavior support to COACh summer program, Camp Friendship, Program Continue </li><li>Support student transition to and from ESY by monitoring behavior to ensure carryover during summer instruction to prevent substantial regression </li><li>Assist behavior specialist with summer professional development opportunities for teachers, school-based administration team, related service providers around classroom management, and other behavioral interventions </li><li>Assist behavior specialist during summer training for Safety Care training </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers/Therapists Union. </li><li>180 days per year </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS: The City of Lynn offers comprehensive and competitive health and dental benefits; Harvard Pilgrim PPO/HMO, Altus Dental High/Low, and Vision Insurance.
