New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.</p> <p>JOB TITLE:</p> <p>Safety Specialist Level 2</p> <p>AGENCY:</p> <p>Construction & Development</p> <p>DEPT/DIV:</p> <p>Delivery\Stations</p> <p>REPORTS TO:</p> <p>Manager, Safety</p> <p>WORK LOCATION:</p> <p>2 Broadway</p> <p>HOURS OF WORK:</p> <p>8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as required (7.5HR/ DAY)</p> <p>HAY POINTS:</p> <p>342</p> <p>SALARY RANGE:</p> <p>$67,103 to $91,357</p> <p>DEADLINE:</p> <p>Open Until Filled</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Safety Specialist Level 2, under the direction of the Safety Manager, will oversee safety operations of construction activities in accordance with contract requirements and best management safety practices.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Duties include (but are not limited to):</p> <p>Conduct routine site assessments to identify hazardous work practices and conditions.</p> <p>Liaise with construction compliance managers and contractors to develop corrective action strategies to eliminate hazardous conditions and prevent workplace incidents.</p> <p>Participate in safety meetings, job briefings, design reviews, and progress meetings, as well as review contractor-submitted health and safety plans and job hazard analysis means and methods.</p> <p>Pre-task intends to ensure compliance with MTA C&D's Safety Program and regulatory conformity.</p> <p>Participate in and document accident and incident investigations.</p> <p>Prepare weekly performance reports.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Safety Engineering, Safety Management, or Construction Safety.</p> <p>Must have a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.</p> <p>Competencies:</p> <p>Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements.</p> <p>Experience with construction safety contractor management programs or providing oversight for 3rd party services/contractors.</p> <p>Possess a valid OSHA 30-hour card in the Construction Industry under five years old.</p> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</p> <p>Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).</p> <p>Driver's License (required for some Business Units)</p> <p>Other Information</p> <p>Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").</p> <p>Selection Criteria</p> <p>Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.</p> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>MTA employees must apply via My MTA Portal.
