<p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Performs watering, weed control, litter pickup and mulching of landscaped areas. </li><li>Plants/maintains shrubs, trees, ground covers, flower beds and perennials. </li><li>Performs pruning, applies fertilizers, soil amendments, edging and vandalism repairs. </li><li>Performs building clean-up. </li><li>Drives City vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver's License. </li><li>Assists with the collection and disposal of refuse collected from residential areas or businesses. </li><li>Assists with patching/crack filling of City streets or sidewalks </li></ul> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Assist with forestry operations for tree planting, pruning, removal, and stump removal. </li><li>Assist with other public works operational needs as priorities dictate which could include Sanitation, Water or Street Divisions. </li><li>Must provide own steel toed shoes. </li><li>Must possess a valid driver's license. </li><li>Must be at least eighteen years of age. </li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated. </li><li>Ability to follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Ability to fill out daily reports. </li><li>Knowledge on how to use hand and power tools. </li><li>Ability to use a broom and a shovel. </li><li>Ability to read and understand street maps, plat maps and directions. </li><li>Ability to perform minor equipment repairs. </li><li>Ability to drive efficiently and safely. </li><li>Ability to understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions. </li><li>Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees and to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. </li><li>Ability to withstand a variety of temperatures and adverse weather conditions, good physical condition. </li><li>Ability to perform tasks on a regular basis which require frequent standing, climbing, lifting, reaching, bending, squatting and carrying. </li><li>Ability to lift, push and pull. </li><li>Ability to work in a safe manner. </li></ul> <p>EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: May - September</p> <p>WORK SCHEDULE: Hours per day: 8</p> <p>Flexible hours: 5:00a.m. to 2:30 p.m.</p> <p>Days per week: 5</p> <p>Hours per week: up to 40</p> <p>WORK LOCATION: Municipal Services Building, 2625 E.
