<p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The Science Coordinator is responsible for leading, coordinating, and enhancing the district's science</p> <p>programs to ensure alignment with Missouri DESE standards, MSIP 6 requirements, and best instructional</p> <p>practices. This role supports teachers, building administrators, and students by providing curriculum</p> <p>leadership, professional development, data analysis, and program evaluation to improve science instruction</p> <p>and student achievement.</p> <p>Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction</p> <p>Supervises: None</p> <p>Pay Grade: Certified</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Develop, implement, and maintain a coherent K-12 science curriculum aligned to Missouri </li></ul> <p>Learning Standards and MSIP 6.</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate and recommend instructional materials, resources, and technology to enhance science </li></ul> <p>teaching and learning.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of science instruction across grade levels. </li><li>Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to science teachers, including classroom modeling and </li></ul> <p>instructional strategies.</p> <ul> <li>Lead professional development sessions to build teacher capacity in science pedagogy, inquiry- </li></ul> <p>based learning, and assessment literacy.</p> <ul> <li>Support teachers in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs. </li><li>Analyze student performance data from district, state, and formative assessments to inform </li></ul> <p>instruction and improve outcomes.</p> <ul> <li>Support schools in implementing formative assessments and using data to drive instructional </li></ul> <p>decisions.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure compliance with DESE reporting requirements for science assessment data. </li><li>Monitor science programs for compliance with MSIP 6 standards and Missouri DESE requirements. </li><li>Conduct audits of curriculum implementation and instructional practices to ensure fidelity. </li><li>Recommend improvements and strategic initiatives to enhance student learning outcomes. </li><li>Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum, building administrators, and instructional staff to support district goals. </li><li>Serve as a liaison with DESE, regional science education networks, and community partners. </li><li>Communicate science program initiatives, goals, and student outcomes to stakeholders, including </li></ul> <p>staff, families, and the Board of Education.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Possesses strong leadership traits with the ability to lead people and provide direction. </li><li>Takes initiative, detailed oriented, and is highly organized. </li><li>Has a deep working knowledge of instructional effective practices, balanced assessments, and data </li></ul> <p>analysis</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in science curriculum development, instructional coaching, or program </li></ul> <p>coordination.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Missouri Learning Standards, MSIP 6, and DESE assessment and accountability </li></ul> <p>requirements.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (Master's </li></ul> <p>preferred).</p> <ul> <li>Valid Missouri teaching certificate: additional administrative or curriculum certification preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
