<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Administrative Assistant of the department provides secretarial support to the Department Chair and faculty during the academic year, August-May. The Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible to the Department Chair and works closely with this person. The Administrative Assistant also acts as a receptionist and overseer of the lower level of Burke.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform needed support tasks of Department faculty. </li><li>Oversee the work of student workers, approving timecards. </li><li>Serve as Department receptionist, welcoming students and visitors to the lower level of Burke, answering the phone, taking messages, etc. </li><li>Manage the Department's reception, work, and storage areas, including keeping the areas orderly and supplied; and updating departmental displays and communication. </li><li>Oversee the operation of office equipment such as the copier. </li><li>Organize, coordinate, and proctor certification exams in Computer Science; proctor exams for faculty members when needed. </li><li>Prepare purchase order requisitions and reimbursements for department expenses. </li><li>Assist with departmental activity planning. </li><li>Track the Department's recruitment information. </li><li>Assist with department documentation including assessment data, and DHS/NSA Center for Academic Excellence documentation. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required</p> <ul> <li>A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant. </li><li>Committed Christian with a Christ-like attitude. </li><li>Positive interpersonal relationship skills to effectively work with students, faculty, prospective students, and their parents (personable, warm, gracious toward others). </li><li>Strong communication skills, including listening, talking, and writing. </li><li>Able to maintain confidential information. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively. </li><li>Computer knowledge and skills, particularly Microsoft office programs (especially Word and Excel). </li><li>Graphics and layout skills desirable. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>EDUCATION</p> <p>High school diploma and relevant work experience required.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Work is performed in an office located in the lower level of Burke Administration, as well as an office in Reed Hall of Science, 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9-months per year. Multi-tasking on a daily basis with faculty and students. This individual will work in a very pleasant environment while performing daily tasks.</p> <p>SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION</p> <p>The salary for this position is $15.50 per hour but will be based on experience and education level.</p>
