<p>Full-time, grant-funded position. Length of assignment is based on grant funding and continuation. May be hired as Victim Advocate I or II, based on experience level. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience level.</p> <p>Excellent opportunity for those with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a closely related field and at least one (1) year of experience in victim advocacy. We encourage you to apply. </p> <p>Under the direction of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program Co-director you </p> <ul> <li>Are responsible for providing guidance, support, information, and crisis counseling to victims of crime. </li><li>Maintain a caseload of misdemeanor, felony, or Juvenile cases. </li><li>Rely on your knowledge of crisis intervention principles and practices as you assist victims and witnesses throughout the Criminal Justice Process. </li><li>Use your knowledge of the criminal justice system and agencies in providing available resources to assist victims. </li><li>Use your interpersonal, communication, collaboration, customer service skills, and work initiative as you work with members of the community and other Team Chatham employees. </li><li>Must be able to exercise sound judgement and discretion and maintain confidentiality during emotionally stressful situations. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a closely related field, and </li><li>At least one (1) year of experience working in victim advocacy, with social service agencies, and or the criminal justice system; or </li><li>Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. </li><li>Must be experienced in computer operations and the use of Microsoft Office products. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. </li><li>This position is for the Downtown Courthouse or the Juvenile Court building. Location is to be determined based on the needs of the office. </li></ul>
