<p>Medical Assistant I - Float</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Medical Assistant I - Float is responsible for supporting both clinical and front desk operations within the practice. This role flexibly rotates between medical assisting duties and administrative support, helping to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience from check-in to check-out. The Float MA plays a vital role in preparing patients for visits, assisting providers, managing documentation, handling scheduling, and maintaining effective communication.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>Clinical Duties (Back Office):</p> <ul> <li>Greet and prepare patients for examination and procedures. </li><li>Room patients and assess general condition, including collecting vital signs, weight, and medical history. </li><li>Perform medication reconciliation and assist with medication administration per provider direction. </li><li>Support providers during examinations, treatments, and testing. </li><li>Collect specimens and perform screenings as directed. </li><li>Maintain exam rooms, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and preparing equipment. </li><li>Prepare charts for upcoming appointments, ensuring all necessary records and test results are available. </li><li>Perform virtual check-ins and check-outs for patient visits. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Duties (Front Office):</p> <ul> <li>Check patients in and out for appointments. </li><li>Answer and triage incoming phone calls, providing information or routing as appropriate. </li><li>Schedule appointments, referrals, and procedures. </li><li>Perform prior authorizations for medications and services as required. </li><li>Verify insurance coverage and update patient demographics in the system. </li><li>Maintain the GI provider recall system, sending reminders and following up with patients as needed. </li><li>Send and receive medical records, lab and imaging reports, and other required documents. </li><li>Complete and process forms and requisitions accurately. </li></ul> <p>Organizational and Professional Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment. </li><li>Uphold patient confidentiality and ensure HIPAA compliance. </li><li>Provide a respectful and supportive atmosphere in interactions with patients, staff, and providers. </li><li>Respond appropriately to emergency codes and urgent situations. </li><li>Escalate patient complaints or concerns to the Site or Practice Manager as needed. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Education: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution, or a college course in medical assisting.</p> <p>Experience: Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Experience working in a Gastroenterology practice is preferred.</p> <p>Performance Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle </li><li>Must have a valid automobile insurance with good driving record </li><li>Must be able to travel between the designated region </li><li>Knowledge of health care field and EMR systems. </li><li>Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately. </li><li>Skill in written and verbal communications. </li><li>Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families. </li><li>Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care practices and procedures. </li><li>Ability to project a pleasant and professional image. </li><li>Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks. </li><li>Ability to multi-task. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others. </li></ul> <p>Requirements for Level I Status:</p> <ul> <li>Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision. </li><li>Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision. </li></ul> <p>GI Alliance is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
