Hiring for : Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Design, develop, and optimize tooling and fixtures for deep drawn metal stamping processes. Ensure these designs facilitate maximum productivity, efficiency, and quality throughout the manufacturing workflow. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including production, quality assurance, research and development, and supply chain management, to develop creative and practical solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. Utilize advanced CAD software tools (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA) to create detailed 2D and 3D models. Generate comprehensive engineering drawings conforming to industry standards to facilitate clear communication of design intent. Conduct thorough feasibility analyses and computer simulations to evaluate design concepts, optimize deep drawing processes, and anticipate potential manufacturing issues prior to production. Select appropriate materials and establish manufacturing processes and tolerances that align with design specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements, ensuring high-quality deliverables. Perform detailed root cause analysis on production anomalies and implement effective corrective actions, utilizing methodologies such as 5 Whys or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to enhance process reliability. Oversee the prototyping phase, developing initial models for testing. Analyze test results rigorously and make iterative adjustments to designs based on empirical data and feedback from production teams to refine product performance. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, employing Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance process efficiencies, reduce waste, and lower production costs.

Responsibilities

Design and develop tooling and fixtures for deep drawn metal stamping processes.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.

Utilize CAD software to create detailed engineering models and drawings.

Conduct feasibility analyses and simulations to optimize designs.

Select materials and establish manufacturing processes and tolerances.

Perform root cause analysis on production anomalies and implement corrective actions.

Oversee prototyping, analyze test results, and refine product designs.

Engage in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA for CAD modeling.

5+ years of experience in metal forming or metal stamping.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.

Experience in designing products from concept to completion.

Ability to manage own projects independently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.

Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies.

Strong problem-solving skills using methods like 5 Whys or FMEA.

Work Environment

This position is based in New Jersey, where you will work onsite with approximately 200 colleagues.
