<p>Overview</p> <p>Southern Cancer Center is hiring a Chemo RN for our office in Daphne.</p> <p>Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>General Responsibilities:</p> </li><li> <p>Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding their current status and medical history.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.</p> </li><li> <p>Review and report the results of health status assessments, physical examinations, laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments to the provider.</p> </li><li> <p>Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain patient confidentiality.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.</p> </li><li> <p>Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique.</p> </li><li> <p>Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administering therapies where applicable.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate dose modification by assessing patients, reviewing labs, consulting protocols or treatment plans, calculating doses, and consulting physicians regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central line catheter devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.</p> </li><li> <p>Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain the work environment by restocking the supply area as needed and following OSHA guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain all disinfection protocols and equipment according to quality control standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate clinical operations and patient care by managing patient medication refill requests and assisting physicians with exams and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate communication between patients/families and the interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist patients in locating available community resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Interprofessional Collaboration:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist and collaborate with clinical research.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Job Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education/Training:</p> </li><li> <p>Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.</p> </li><li> <p>Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain continuing education requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Business Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>0-3 years of nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Environment:</p> </li><li> <p>The work environment characteristics are representative of those encountered while performing essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> </li><li> <p>Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires standing and walking for extensive periods.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.</p> </li><li> <p>Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.</p> </li></ul> <p>Specialty Specific Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p></p> </li><li> <p></p> </li><li> <p>Infusion RN:</p> </li><li> <p>Program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provide instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.</p> </li></ul>
