<p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Mammography Technologist I or II to join our Mammography team. This part-time (0.5 FTE) will work rotating weekdays (no weekends and no holidays).</p> <p>Under the supervision of area leadership or designee, performs patient care and technical functions to ensure proper radiologic imaging of patients utilizing diagnostic mammography systems.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>May participate in a training program to learn and develop proficiency in performing diagnostic mammography examinations after MQSA qualifications have been met </li><li>Performs screening and diagnostic mammography under the order of a licensed medical practitioner </li><li>Assists radiologist with needle localizations and other breast procedures under mammography and stereotactic guidance </li><li>Supports and takes additional responsibilities to assist with MRI guided biopsies </li><li>Coordinates care between breast imaging departments and programs by placing follow-up order recommendations and internal referrals </li><li>Assists with tracking breast imaging result notifications and documents pathology results </li><li>Educates patients concerning what can be expected prior to, during and after diagnostic breast procedures </li><li>Obtain, update, and document the patient's breast health history utilizing EPIC and other ancillary systems (i.e Breast Risk Factor Calculator) </li><li>Adequately prepares room for procedures </li><li>Reviews and verifies exam requests to ensure correct exam is ordered on the correct patient </li><li>Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contraindications for procedure (allergies, etc.) </li><li>Ensures patients receive high-quality care </li><li>Explains exam procedure to patient and family members who are present. </li><li>Demonstrates correct anatomic positioning and exposure factors relating to area-specific exams </li><li>Follows ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle. </li><li>Demonstrates basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes </li><li>Evaluates images, recognizes normal vs. abnormal anatomy and notifies the appropriate Radiologist as needed, and takes appropriate action to address image quality issues as applied in Enhancing Quality Using the Inspection Program (EQUIP) </li><li>Consistently performs quality exams and ensures that department protocols are followed (positioning protocols, etc.) </li><li>Utilizes the image management system; acquire, format, manipulate, archive, and obtain prior breast imaging records to and from the PACS system </li><li>Accurately reports total number of images taken and the number of, and reason for, repeat radiographs, when applicable </li><li>Utilizes EPIC system appropriately (orders, scheduling documentation, and billing) </li><li>Implements downtime procedures (manual operations) when computer systems or equipment fails </li><li>Instructs new staff in imaging procedures and techniques </li><li>Maintains equipment and room in proper working condition and trouble-shoots malfunctioning equipment. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to proper personnel as soon as issue is recognized </li><li>Respects and uses equipment appropriately </li><li>Takes ownership and reports incidents involving the equipment when it happens </li><li>Completes an Event Report for all incidents involving themselves and/or patients </li><li>Performs various clerical duties </li><li>Performs quality control procedures </li><li>Demonstrates and promotes a healthy work environment and good teamwork; makes suggestions for improvements </li><li>Assists in organizing workflow utilizing available staff and rooms </li><li>Participates in departmental continuing education in-services and remains up-to-date with MQSA requirements </li><li>Completes additional duties/projects as assigned </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS TECH I</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT </li></ul> <p>Training requirements per the MQSA</p> <ul> <li>Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) </li><li>Completion of MQSA required initial training </li><li>Completion of MQSA mammography clinical experience training within 24 months of employment </li><li>Possess advanced certification in mammography certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of completion of MQSA mammography clinical experience training </li><li>Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT and meets, and remains up-to-date with all requirements for MQSA </li></ul> <p>QUALFICATIONS TECH II</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Completion of a formal educational Radiologic Technology program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT </li><li>Completion of MQSA training </li><li>Currently certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) </li><li>Currently qualified under MQSA and meets the requirements for stereotactic breast biopsy </li><li>Possess Advanced certification in mammography certification by the (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists </li><li>Maintains minimum CEU credits as mandated by the ARRT and meets all requirements for MQSA </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of experience as Mammography Technologist </li></ul>
