<p>Overview</p> <p>Responsible for the daily operations of the food service department. Orders and maintain supplies. Assists in the training process of new employees. Supervises employees engaged in serving food in hospital, nursing home, or similar institutions, and in maintaining cleanliness of food service areas and equipment. Has the ability to work well in a fast paced environment. Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Trains workers in performance of duties. </li><li>Maintains department to meet all health code standards </li><li>Inspect food and food preparation to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations. </li><li>Investigate and resolves food quality and service complaints </li><li>Conduct meetings with department personnel </li><li>Supervises serving of meals. </li><li>Inspects kitchen, dining areas, kitchen utensils, and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met. </li><li>Requisitions and inspects foodstuffs, supplies, and equipment to maintain stock levels and ensure standards of quality are met. </li><li>Performs patient and cafeteria rounds to monitor services and feedback. </li><li>Assists in developing, revising, and implementing policies and procedures </li><li>Prepares work schedules and evaluates work performance of employees. </li><li>Responsible for attendance and work performance disciplinary action </li><li>Assigns and coordinates work of employees to promote efficiency of operations. </li><li>Make necessary scheduled changes due to call in or when needed. </li><li>Responsible for counting money and completing cash logs as needed, daily deposits, ordering change for outlets </li><li>Completes performance evaluations </li><li>Work with Human Resources and Food Service Manager to effectively interview, select and hire staff as needed to maintain budgeted FTE's and accomplish department service/business goals </li><li>Adheres to department safety and sanitation regulations </li><li>Use protective barriers (gloves, apron, and proper hair coverings) </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent preferred</p> <p>One year experience in the Food Service industry at supervisory level preferred</p> <p>Certification and Licensure</p> <p>Obtain Illinois Food Handlers card within 90 days of employment Certified in food safety with the State of Wisconsin preferred</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>Mercyhealth offers a generous total rewards package to eligible employees including, but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive Benefits Package: Mercyhealth offers a retirement plan with competitive matching contribution, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance options, life and disability coverage, access to flexible spending plans, and a variety of other discounted voluntary benefit options. </li><li>Competitive Compensation: Mercyhealth offers market competitive rates of pay and participates in various shift differential and special pay incentive programs. </li><li>Paid Time Off: Mercyhealth offers a generous paid time off plan, which increases with milestone anniversaries, to allow employees the opportunity for a great work-life balance. </li><li>Career Advancement: Mercyhealth offers a number of educational assistance programs and career ladders to support employees in their educational journey and advancement within Mercyhealth. </li><li>Employee Wellbeing: Mercyhealth has a focus on wellbeing for employees across the organization and offers a number of tools and resources, such as an employer-sponsored health risk assessment and a Wellbeing mobile application, to assist employees on their wellbeing journey. </li><li>Additional Benefits: Mercyhealth employees have access to our internal and external employee assistance programs, employee-only discount packages, paid parental and caregiver leaves, on-demand pay, special payment programs for patient services, and financial education to help with retirement planning. </li></ul>
