<p>Job Title: Sushi Shift Supervisor</p> <p>Department: Sushi</p> <p>Reports To: Sushi Manager</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-exempt</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>In addition to performing all required duties of a Sushi Clerk, the Sushi Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of activities the Sushi department staff will perform. Responsibilities include; but are not limited to, planning, assigning, and directing work; staff development, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Sushi Shift Supervisor will assist in overseeing the selling of all related items at the Sushi counter. They are also responsible for carrying out the duties listed below (other duties may be assigned)</p> <ul> <li>Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures </li><li>Responsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department </li><li>Required to perform all essential duties of a Sushi Clerk </li><li>Fills customer's orders as requested </li><li>Make sushi following company instructions & recipes as provided </li><li>Responsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment by the company cash register procedures </li><li>Assists with duties and examines work for compliance with policies and procedures </li><li>Must be knowledgeable of merchandise sold in the Sushi Department and educate customers and staff on the preparation and use of merchandise </li><li>Assists with ordering, receiving, and merchandising </li><li>Assists with orders of all Sushi and all related items for the department </li><li>Processes purchase orders for implementation at the required deadline </li><li>Responsible for implementing and maintaining all marketing programs </li><li>Assists in training & developing all Sushi Department employees in product knowledge, suggestive selling techniques, merchandising techniques, & customer service skills on an ongoing basis </li></ul> <p>This job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of duties, responsibilities, and requirements. Responsibilities include assisting with the training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.</p> <p>Customer Service Skills</p> <p>Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Sushi Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive "can-do" attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.</p> <p>Education and/or Experience</p> <p>High School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</p> <p>Language Skills</p> <p>Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, or employees of the company.</p> <p>Knowledge Of English</p> <p>This is a customer service-driven position. The candidate must have the ability to communicate in English.</p> <p>Mathematical Skills</p> <p>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and volume.</p> <p>Reasoning Ability</p> <p>Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to resolve conflicts in such a manner to create a win-win situation. Ability to analyze a variety of situations, think through a solution, and implement the solution.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the Sushi Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Sushi Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Sushi Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Sushi Clerk must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.</p> <p>This position may require to use of the following tools and equipment: box knife, baler, scanner, hand truck, POS, conveyer belt, industrial kitchen equipment (i.e. blast chiller, grill, knives/blades, oven, grills, scales, etc.), basic housekeeping / janitorial and standard office equipment.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Work occurs in a grocery store environment which includes surfaces that can be wet and slippery, moderate noise levels, and temperature extremes in controlled environments in the cooler and freezer, and depending on location, working outside in all temperatures. There may be exposure to certain allergens and/or chemicals.
