<p>Location: Serving Caston School Corporation, Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation, and Pioneer Regional School Corporation (based at a central location or as assigned)</p> <p>Reports To: Superintendents of the Participating School Corporations</p> <p>Work Year: 12 Months</p> <p>Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Director of Special Education for the Shared Services Consortium of Caston, Eastern Pulaski, and Pioneer School Corporations is responsible for the administration, coordination, and supervision of special education services across all three districts. The Director ensures compliance with all state and federal laws (IDEA, Article 7), oversees service delivery to students with disabilities, and provides leadership to special education personnel, while fostering collaboration between schools, families, and community partners.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <p>Program Administration & Compliance:</p> <ul> <li>Develop, implement, and monitor special education programs and services across the three districts. </li><li>Ensure compliance with federal (IDEA), state (Article 7), and local regulations and policies. </li><li>Coordinate and complete all required reporting for the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE), Office of Special Education. </li><li>Oversee and manage the preparation and submission of all special education grants (e.g., Part B, 619). </li><li>Monitor the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and due process timelines. </li><li>Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures aligned with special education best practices. </li></ul> <p>Staff Supervision & Support:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and support special education staff including teachers, related service providers (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists), paraprofessionals, and contracted service providers. </li><li>Coordinate recruitment, professional development, and performance evaluations for special education personnel. </li><li>Provide ongoing training and technical assistance to staff on compliance, instructional strategies, and student supports. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Communication:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the liaison between the IDOE and the three participating school corporations on all special education matters. </li><li>Facilitate collaboration among building principals, general education staff, and special education teams to promote inclusive practices. </li><li>Support families in understanding and navigating special education services, due process, and procedural safeguards. </li><li>Attend case conferences as needed, especially in complex or contentious situations. </li></ul> <p>Fiscal Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and oversee the shared services budget, including grant funds, Medicaid billing, and out-of-district placements. </li><li>Coordinate contracted services and placements in approved private facilities or cooperative programs as needed. </li><li>Monitor expenditures to ensure proper use of funds and sustainability of services. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Special Education, School Administration, or related field. </li><li>Valid Indiana administrative license with Director of Exceptional Needs certification or eligibility to obtain. </li><li>Minimum 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of special education law, compliance procedures, and instructional strategies. </li><li>Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively across multiple districts and administrative teams. </li><li>Experience with IEP software systems (e.g., IIEP) and student information systems. </li><li>Skilled in conflict resolution, mediation, and team facilitation. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Travel required between the three school corporations. </li><li>Standard office hours with flexibility for evening meetings or conferences as needed. </li><li>Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. </li></ul> <p>Eastern Pulaski offers a robust benefits package to employees including:</p> <p>Onsite Childcare</p> <p>Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Long Term Disability Insurance</p> <p>Onsite Health Clinic</p> <p>Retirement Plan</p> <p>24/7 Access to Virtual Medical Care</p> <p>Financial Wellness Coaching</p> <p>Health Coaching</p>
