<p>Providence Business News, southern New England's leading business publication, is looking for an enterprising, energetic reporter to help cover one of the nation's most diverse business communities.</p> <p>From finance to manufacturing and health care, and government to tourism and technology, Providence and the surrounding region provide an endless variety of stories. PBN breaks news, but we also take the time to help the business community understand what is happening in the state and why it matters to them.</p> <p>We're looking for a talented journalist and self-starter who is familiar with AP style, has some experience with beat reporting and is willing to learn and be part of a team. PBN is employee-owned, part of Iowa-based Woodward Communications Inc.</p> <p>Overall Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Identify business news and trends relevant to Rhode Island-based readers </li><li>Responsible for developing multiple reporting beat areas </li><li>Contribute to PBN's daily news coverage and regularly produce enterprise and assigned stories for PBN print publications </li><li>Provide photos when able and needed </li><li>Collaborate with editorial staff to ensure seamless and comprehensive news coverage between digital, print, and social media </li></ul> <p>Specific Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop assigned PBN news beats </li><li>Cultivate and maintain local and regional news sources, leads and story ideas </li><li>Regularly contribute to PBN online daily news report while producing enterprise and assigned news features for biweekly print publication and PBN special publications </li><li>Produce weekly or biweekly beat-related e-newsletter. </li><li>Follow recurring print deadline schedule, working closely with supervising editors </li><li>Attend news-based community functions and events as needed </li><li>Track beat-related news developments throughout the state and region </li><li>Adheres to company and departmental policies </li><li>Adheres to standard practices and ethical standards of the industry </li><li>Positive representative of department, company and industry at all times </li><li>Communicate professionally with the public via phone, email and face-to-face interaction </li><li>Communicates information to the appropriate individuals and/or departments in a timely manner, such as news tips, source suggestions or real or potential customer-relations issues </li><li>Works in cooperation with all members of company in general and Editorial Department in particular </li><li>All other duties as assigned </li></ul>
