In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.</p> <p>What you will be doing</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking an experienced Epic Optime/Anesthesia Analyst to join our Information Technology Department. This role is responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimization of Epic's Optime and Anesthesia modules, serving as a critical link between IT, perioperative departments, physician offices, and Epic representatives.</p> <p>The Epic Application Development Specialist maintains in-depth expertise in perioperative IT solutions and acts as a trusted resource within the team and across the organization. In this capacity, the Specialist provides technical and workflow guidance, mentors colleagues, and actively supports the growth of team knowledge and skills. The role requires close collaboration with clinical and operational leaders to ensure Epic solutions are aligned with hospital goals and best practices, while also contributing to the strategic planning, design, and integration of assigned applications.</p> <p>By representing the team in discussions with hospital leadership, external stakeholders, and Epic representatives, the Specialist plays a key role in advancing initiatives that improve efficiency, safety, and patient care. This position demands strong analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to translate clinical needs into effective technology solutions and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across departments.</p> <p>YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</p> <p>5+ years of relevant experience. 2+ years of significant IT implementation and/or support experience. Obtain/Maintain Epic and other certifications as required by role. </li><li>Process Improvement & Quality: Enhance the robustness and reliability of applications by refining workflows, strengthening quality assurance and change management processes, and implementing best practices. Identify opportunities for improvement that positively impact customers, teams, and organizational outcomes. </li><li>Collaboration & Relationships: Build and maintain strong partnerships across IT, perioperative departments, business leaders, and training teams to ensure alignment, effective communication, and successful adoption of functionality and tools. </li><li>Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues, support team development, and foster strong team dynamics. Represent the team in cross-functional initiatives and serve as a trusted expert resource. </li><li>Project & Service Management: Lead and manage projects and application work streams, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and stakeholder communication. Monitor and resolve assigned service tickets within established SLAs, ensuring thorough documentation and consistent follow-up. </li><li>Innovation & Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the strategic direction of perioperative IT solutions by developing and championing new ideas, researching best practices, and implementing improvements that add measurable value to the organization. </li><li>Operational Excellence: Create and maintain system documentation, reports, and dashboards to support business needs. Demonstrate initiative in problem-solving, multitasking, and process analysis to ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes. </li><li>Support: Flexibility to work an expanded work schedule, including early mornings, nights & possibly weekends during major implementation and support efforts. Provide on-site support during go-lives and system upgrades. Provide on-call support on a rotating basis. Manage and work helpdesk tickets, following ITIL-based change management processes </li></ul> <p>SKILLS REQUIRED</p> <ul> <li>Strong Epic Reporting skills </li><li>Proficiency with MS Office tools </li><li>Experience leading a team in a complex, high paced environment. </li><li>Driven to expand on current healthcare IT knowledge and expertise </li><li>Superior oral, written and non-verbal communication skills; ability to forge and maintain strong professional relationships </li><li>Self-motivated, detail-oriented and pragmatic; a great team player who is analytical and solution-focused </li></ul> <p>SKILLS PREFERRED</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Capsule Smartlinx and Steris SPM </li><li>Assessment and change management/transformation experience preferred. </li><li>Experience with OR Block Management and Case Cost Tools </li><li>Familiarity with SQL reporting </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS</p> <p>Sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about Sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about the department and traverse the hospital campus.
