<p>School Nurse - CSN JobID: 4895</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Nursing/Nurse</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>4/16/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>2026-2027 School Year</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>When position is filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION SPECIFICATION</p> <p>POSITION TITLE: CERTIFIED SCHOOL NURSE (Richards & Eisenhower Schools)</p> <p>REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL AND DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES</p> <p>Qualifications: Meet all standards required by the Illinois State Board of Education for certification.</p> <p>PLANNING:</p> <p>Consult and collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, psychologists and other school personnel concerning the needs of individual students.</p> <p>Consult with administration, instructional staff and parents in areas pertinent to health concerns.</p> <p>Participate in mutually beneficial meetings with other nursing staff.</p> <p>Recommend modification of the school program for students who require a change due to a health deficit and develop health care plans when a student needs special health care procedures to be provided at school.</p> <p>Coordinate vision and hearing screening, referrals and follow ups.</p> <p>IMPLEMENTATION:</p> <p>Alert the administration about policies and legal provisions as they relate to the school health program.</p> <p>Supervise the maintenance of health records and enforce state requirements regarding the immunization compliance and physical education provisions.</p> <p>Counsel students, parents and staff regarding matters of health, acting as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies and the private medical sector.</p> <p>Participate in multidisciplinary staff conferences and annual reviews.</p> <p>Supervise and/or administer first aid as applicable.</p> <p>Report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.</p> <p>Participate in school registration activities to ensure compliance with state mandates.</p> <p>Provide annual inservices for staff in regards to blood borne pathogens.</p> <p>Maintain and submit records of services provided for Medicaid reimbursement.</p> <p>EVALUATION:</p> <p>Control and report communicable diseases.</p> <p>Observe and report unsafe conditions.</p> <p>Participate in the formation of the medication policy and supervise and direct the administration of medication.</p> <p>INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS:</p> <p>Communicate effectively with students and parents.</p> <p>Assist as a member of the crisis management team.</p> <p>Serve as a member of the student support team.</p> <p>Identify students health problems and concerns as well as assessing their health status, make referrals and providing appropriate health counseling for students, parents and school staff.</p> <p>Readily available to students and parents.</p> <p>Make home visits as necessary in working with parents and students.</p> <p>INTERACTION WITH STAFF, TOTAL SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY:</p> <p>Communicates and works with appropriate support personnel.</p> <p>Communicates and works with other staff members and administrators</p> <p>Cooperates and communicates with parents/guardians.</p> <p>Shares ideas, materials and methods with other staff members.</p> <p>PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Attend and participate in scheduled staff development meetings.</p> <p>Participate in department meetings and professional projects as directed by the Director of Student Services.</p> <p>Adheres to school regulations and board policies.</p> <p>Responds appropriately to concerns initiated by parents/guardians.</p> <p>Completes duties effectively and promptly.</p> <p>Maintains regular attendance and is punctual.</p> <p>Follows the Teachers' Handbook and District Policy Manual as required measurements of expectations and requirements.</p> <p>Is required to attain continuing professional development units (CPDUs) as mandated by the State of Illinois.</p> <p>SALARY AND BENEFITS:</p> <p>Placement and step on the licensed staff salary schedule will be determined by experience and qualifications per the CHSD 218/IEA Professional Agreement.</p> <p>Eligible for full Board-provided employee benefits (health, dental, life insurance, paid leave, and retirement), subject to contract provisions.
