<p>What You'll Be Doing</p> <p>The Department Fiscal Operations Section is a vital hub of financial activity, made up of three key units: Billing and Receivables, Grants, and Disbursements.</p> <p>As a Senior Accounting Technician, you'll be at the heart of our fiscal engine-processing a high volume of detailed accounts payable transactions with precision and efficiency. Your day-to-day will include reviewing and handling invoices, travel reimbursements, requisitions, purchase receiving reports, cash deposits, and contract encumbrances-all in alignment with established fiscal policies and procedures.</p> <p>You'll collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including County supervisors, front-line staff, internal team members, and external merchant vendors. This role offers a dynamic environment where attention to detail, communication, and adaptability are key. Additional responsibilities may be assigned, offering opportunities to grow and contribute across the department.</p> <p>NOTE: A criminal background and credit check will be conducted.</p> <p>The essential functions for the Senior Accounting Technician position include:</p> <ul> <li>Review and process a high volume of invoices, requisitions, receiving reports, monthly and quarterly board stipends, interdepartmental charge allocations, and contract encumbrance payments, via an automated financial system </li><li>Research and resolve various accounts payable discrepancies </li><li>Prepare fiscal reports </li><li>Reconcile multiple accounts </li><li>Process fiscal year-end transactions </li><li>Provide technical assistance and/or fiscal training </li><li>Other duties include cross training, and special projects </li></ul> <p>About Our Team</p> <p>Wake County Finance strives to be recognized as an innovative leader in Government Finance, by utilizing leading-edge technology to improve business processes, provide timely and accurate financial information, and enhance fiscal accountability.
