The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing janitorial teams in a higher education or similarly complex campus environment, with strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.</p> <ul> <li>5+ years of facility management experience, with a focus on custodial/janitorial operations </li><li>Prior experience managing a team of hourly employees </li><li>Strong knowledge of cleaning standards, supplies, and custodial best practices </li><li>Familiarity with basic building systems, especially HVAC (engineering support team will handle complex systems) </li><li>Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills </li><li>Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus </li><li>Ability to work on-site and respond to urgent situations as needed </li></ul> <p>Team Management & Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Supervise and support a team of janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management </li><li>Coordinate with maintenance technicians on minor HVAC preventative and corrective work </li><li>Foster a positive, accountable team environment focused on high standards of cleanliness and professionalism </li></ul> <p>Scheduling & Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain cleaning schedules for all campus buildings </li><li>Ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet operational needs, including for special events, move-in/move-out periods, and emergency response </li><li>Coordinate with third-party vendors as needed </li></ul> <p>Customer Service & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary interface with campus stakeholders regarding facility cleanliness and maintenance issues </li><li>Respond promptly and professionally to service requests and inquiries from faculty, staff, and students </li><li>Participate in regular meetings with GW Facilities and Operations leadership </li></ul> <p>Compliance & Safety</p> <ul> <li>Ensure all work practices comply with OSHA, EPA, and university safety standards </li><li>Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy campus environment </li><li>Ensure use of appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with regulations </li></ul> <p>Documentation & Reporting</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate records related to work orders, inspections, staffing schedules, and supply inventories </li><li>Prepare monthly reports on team performance, completed work, and outstanding issues </li><li>Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for custodial and housekeeping needs </li></ul>
