<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Elementary School Teaching/Art</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/2/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Hamtramck Public Schools</p> <p>District:</p> <p>&nbsp Hamtramck Public Schools&nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY: The classroom teacher will create a flexible, developmentally appropriate and creative environment where children can demonstrate personal growth, social skill, and the desire to integrate the arts into the daily language development and acquisition of academic skills.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS: State of Michigan Teaching Certification LQ Endorsement</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Michigan teaching certificate </li><li>Bachelor's degree including all courses to meet credential requirements. </li><li>Superior verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Evidence of ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders. </li><li>A passionate commitment to improving learning for all students </li></ul> <p>MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):</p> <ul> <li>Exhibits a commitment to the District's Shared Visions of High-Quality Instruction </li><li>Creates a welcoming and positive classroom climate and culture </li><li>Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student </li><li>Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction </li><li>Exhibits an understanding of creative development and essential practices of art education for elementary students and articulates and utilizes research based instructional strategies and methods appropriate for various grade levels </li><li>Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom </li><li>Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares report cards and other necessary documentation to report student growth and achievement </li><li>Maintains student classroom records using current district technology and expectations </li><li>Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress </li><li>Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues </li><li>Creates an effective and welcoming environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, instructional materials, bulletin boards, and websites </li><li>Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self- selected professional growth activities </li><li>Utilizes age and content appropriate aids; maintains required inventory records </li><li>Provides supervision and oversight to students throughout assigned work day </li><li>Participates in school improvement initiatives at the school level, committees and collaborative learning teams </li><li>Executes other duties as assigned by building administrator </li></ul> <p>SALARY:Per the HFT Teacher Contract</p> <p>OTHER:</p> <p>This description is intended to describe the essential job functions, the general supplemental functions and the essential requirements for the performance of this job.
